�ج�م�اع�ة� ال•  If there are three men in a village or in the desert among whom prayer is not offered (in congregation), the devil has got the mastery over them. So observe (prayer) in congregation), for the wolf eats only the straggling animal. Sa'ib said: By the word Jama'ah he meant saying prayer in company or in congregation.

One should not pray in jama’ah if..• He has dirty clothes• Bad odor If he fears that it will harm others

Who can lead the prayer?• The one who has the most Knowledge among his people• Follower of Sunnah

Q- Can an illiterate person lead a literate person in Salah?

• Women can lead only other women in the prayers

Permissible for these to lead• A person who has done tayammum can lead those who have performed wudhoo’

• A sitting person for those who are standing

• A boy for elders

• A person praying non-obligatory prayer for those who are praying fardh

How to pray behind an Imam• The follower should not be ahead of his Imam in the prayer

• Two should stand behind the imam

•One should stand on the right side of Imam

If a second person joins, he should stand at the left side of Imam. Both of them can either move together backwards, or the Imam moves forward.

•The distance between the Imam and his followers should not exceed a limit

•Standing alone in a row is MakruhQ- If there is no one available, then what should one do?

• It is obligatory upon those who follow the Imam to follow him in every action and pillar he performs.

• It is Makruh to lag behind the imam for one than one integral

• If a person lags behind for two long integrals, then his prayer becomes invalid

• The followers should have the knowledge of when Imam moves from one position to another, either by sight or by sound.

• If prayers are held at a Masjid, the prayer is valid regardless of the barriers in between; however, if the prayer is held in an open area, then the distance should not exceed 150 m.

• There should be a continuous line from the Imam to his followers

It is recommended for the Imam to intend leading the people in prayer, so as to get the reward of Imamate

Q- What if a person joins the Imam in prayer during Ruku’, is his Raka’ah valid?
