Page 4: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Or do you prefer all the hype, propaganda and the popular religious / Christian opinions?

Page 5: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

I love Israel !The truth about Israel!!!

Page 6: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Welcome to a(somewhat) different

Israel perspective

But solidly rooted in God’s word

Page 7: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Foundational beliefs

• The Israel “problem” can not be solved politically,

• legally,

• or by negotiations.

• The Israel “problem” is a spiritual problem

• God dictates the terms for Israel existence and return to the land…

Israel and the prophecies

This is what it comes down to:Understanding the scripturesregarding God’s plan for Israel

Page 9: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

I know “a little Hebrew.” !!! (He is 4’11”)He is a Jew - and he is a Christian.

He has spent 40 years travelling the world teaching on Israel and the prophesies.

Most of my research for this presentation are from notes I took from one of his week long seminars.

Dr. Jerry Benjamin

Page 10: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deuteronomy 28 to 30 (5. Mosebok 28 - 30)

•It is God talking

Let’s start:

Page 11: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• God outlines the premise for Israel before they entered in to

• the promised land • crossing the Jordan…• and into the central part of the

land

Page 12: Israel and the prophecies january 2015
Page 13: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 28:1 • “If you – Israel – obey the

commandments I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all nations on the earth”

• This promise was given 450 BC • almost 2500 years ago.

Page 14: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• God say’s he will set Israel high above all nations…

• It has not yet come to pass

•Why?

• Because Israel as a nation has not yet obeyed the Lord

Page 15: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 28:8• “the Lord your God will bless you

in the land he has given you”

• But there is a condition:

Page 16: Israel and the prophecies january 2015
Page 17: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

•You have to obey all the commandments I give you today

Page 18: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

This is God’s promise regarding “the promised land”:

Page 19: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Genesis 15:18-21 (KJV):

In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

Page 20: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

“The promised land”

Page 21: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Notice one important detail:

The land was given to Abrahams “seed”…

As we know: Abraham had two sons – Isaac (the promised son)and Ishmael ( the child with the

bond woman)

Page 22: Israel and the prophecies january 2015
Page 23: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 28:14• This is one of the conditions:

• “Do not follow other gods and serve them”

Back to th

e conditions:

Page 24: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• There is a curse (consequence) for disobedience:

• Deut. 28:21• “The Lord will plague you with

diseases until he has destroyed (eradicated) you from the land you are entering to possess”

Page 25: Israel and the prophecies january 2015
Page 26: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• In simple English:

•God himself will throw them out of their own land

Page 27: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut 28:36• “The Lord will drive you to another

nation unknown to your fathers”

Page 28: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Notice:• It is God himself that drives

Israel out of their country

Page 29: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut 28:46-47• “these curses will be a sign to you

and your descendants forever, because you did not serve the Lord joyfully in the time of prosperity”

Page 30: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 28:63• “just as it pleased the lord to

make you prosper and increase in number, so it will please him to ruin and destroy you

• WOW!• You will be up-rooted (removed)

from your land”

Page 31: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 29:18• “Make sure there is no man or

woman whose heart is turned away from the Lord”

Page 32: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 29:24• “why this fierce, burning anger?• Deut. 29:25-26• It is because this people abandoned

the covenant of the Lord – they went out and worshipped other gods - gods He had not given them

• (they broke the first commandment)

Page 33: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 30:1

• “All the blessings and curses will follow you wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations”

Page 34: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Meaning:

• The blessings and curses will follow you wherever you are in the world until you (eventually) return to the Lord

• ( this has gone on for almost 2500 years so far…)

Page 35: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

But change will (eventually)come:

(But Israel is NOT there yet…)

Page 36: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 30:2-3• There will be prosperity after

turning (back) to God

Page 37: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Deut. 30:2-3

• “When you return to the Lord, then the Lord will restore your fortunes “

• “and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where He scattered you – He will bring you back – to the land that belonged to your fathers”

Page 38: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Have the people of Israel (as of 2015) returned to the Lord?

•No• So is God ready to restore their

land and their fortune today?

•No.

Page 39: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• But God in his mercy has started to gather Israel in “a portion of the land” ( UN declaration as of Nov. 29th -1947), in preparation for what will eventually happen:

• The people returning to the Lord!

Page 40: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• But Israel will never – ever get the whole land back

• until they turn to the Lord!

• (Why not? Because God said so.)

Page 41: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

So stop trying to take the land back by force!

Page 42: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Yes – continue to pray for Israel

But pray for them to turn back to the Lord. Not that they will take the promised

land back by force.

Page 43: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• If God allowed them to have the land back now,

• he would go against his own condition for them returning and being “restored”

• They will only get the whole land back

• when they finally accept Him and turn to God!

Page 44: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

And that will not be until His second coming…

…when Israel finally accept and receive Him as a nation!

Page 45: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Why is God doing this:• Because they did not serve the Lord their

God…• They “fell away”…• Believe it or not: “it pleased God to ruin

and destroy them” Deut. 28:63

Page 46: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

•So nobody took the land away from Israel but God himself

Page 47: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

•So nobody can give the land back but God himself

Page 48: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• There is hope Deut. 30:4

• “Turn back to the Lord”• “And when you “return to the Lord” and

obey Him with all your heart and all your soul,

• the Lord will restore your fortune,• He will bring you (back) to the land that

belonged to your fathers”

Let’s say it again:

Page 49: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Let’s take it one more time:• When will this “returning” happen?

•When Israel turn back to God

Page 50: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Has this happened yet?• As pr. year 2015?

•Absolutely not!• The truth is: The Israelites are more

secular and ungodly than most peoples on the face of the earth…

Page 51: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• On a personal note:• Yes – we are to love the people of

Israel (the Jews) and the land of Israel at all time

• But let us not in our own wisdom, passion and eagerness demand things on behalf of Israel,

• that God himself has planned to deal with in a process to “bring Israel back” into relationship with Him

Page 52: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• A warning in our support of Israel:• Make sure you are not fighting

the will and plan of God !!!• He will have his way

with Israel • in his own time!

Page 53: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• PS. God has everything under control…

• Trust Him• Rest in Him• Leave it to God• and continue to pray

for Jerusalem

Page 54: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

The promised land”

From this land – Israel – will Christ rule the world - one day

Good news:

Page 55: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

It’s ok to update your understanding

and theology regarding Israel!

It is time to get in line with “the word”

God bless you!

Page 56: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Part 2(For those who wants to go even deeper)

Page 57: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

• Let’s go back to Daniel and the prophesy:

Page 58: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Israel entered the land of “milk and honey” (milk representing basic needs – honey representing overflow)

• But they chose to disobey God and was taken from their land (approx. 535 BC) as prisoners (slaves) to Babylon

• This is where the prophet Daniel receives his prophecy of the future of Israel

Page 59: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• The story goes like this:

• King Nebuchadnezzar has a dream

• His own astrologers can not intrepid the dream

• God reveals the mystery of the dream in a vision to Daniel

• Daniel chapter 2 now gives a total overview of what is to happen over the next 500 years and the final kingdom 2000 AD+

Page 60: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Daniel tells the king what he has seen:

• “Before you stood a enormous statue”• “The head was made of pure gold” • “It’s chest and arms of pure silver”• “It’s belly and thighs of bronze”• “It’s legs of iron”• “It’s feet partly of iron – partly of clay”

Page 61: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• This is the interpretation: (Dan. 2:36+)

• Babylon is the first kingdom – the kingdom of gold

• After you (Babylon) will as second kingdom arise – inferior to you (as silver is inferior to gold).

• This is Persia

Page 62: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• A third kingdom of bronze will follow – this is Greece

• (we know this is the rule of Alexander the great – year 330 BC – later divided into four part – one for each of his generals)

• And the forth kingdom – Rome – strong as iron (27 BC to 476 AD)

• But Rome will be a “divided kingdom” (as iron does not bond with clay)

Page 63: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Notice: Daniels prophecy has so far been fulfilled 100% (the first 500 years)

• The prophesy continues: (Dan. 2:44+)

• In the days of “the final kings” God of heaven will set up “a final kingdom” which shall never be destroyed

• Notice: This part of the prophecy has not yet come to pass

Page 64: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Daniel chapter 3 to10 now goes in great detail about the time period 500 BC up to Jesus birth

• (seventy times seven = 490 years) • (all this has already been fulfilled)

• Chapter 11 to 12 deals with a new vision given to Daniel

Page 65: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• It is the Lord speaking to Daniel: “Now I have come to you to explain what will happen to your people in the future”

• Daniel 11:35 – The time period describes as “the end of time” is the end of the time of gentiles (30 AD to 2000+ AD)

• Also called: The age of Grace

Page 66: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• This will happen at Gods appointed time:• God is going to use anti-Christ to bring

Israel back to himself• UN gave the Israelites back a portion of

their land in 1947 / 1948• But only a portion…

• God himself is “turning up the heat” until Israel will “call out to God” for redemption

Page 67: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• About this time the Church will be taken up in the sky to meet Christ (the rapture)

• When the church is gone, antichrist will start his rule

• First a period as peace-maker where all people will love him

• Secondly a period as an evil ruler

Page 68: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Understand this:

• All this is orchestrated by God himself

• So don’t get mad or upset…

• And don’t get nasty or hateful towards Gods other children – the Arabs – which also is of Abrahams seed (by Hagar)

Page 69: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Understand this in a historic prospective:

• Lucifer wanted to do “his own will” (iniquity) and was cast down…

• Antichrist wants to do “his own will” as well…

• Antichrist will set himself up “in the temple of god” – displaying himself as god (2 thess.2:4)

Page 70: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Daniel 11:37

• He will show “no regard for the gods of his fathers”

• Notice:

• Gods in plural – not singular

• and gods with little g…

Page 71: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• The scripture is not saying The God of his fathers (only King James does this “mistake”)

• The gods of his fathers means “all other gods that people pray to”

• (That means that antichrist not necessarily is Jewish)

• He will show no regard for “the one desired by woman” – which is Messiah - the Lord Jesus

Page 72: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Antichrist will prevent the practice of any religion other them himself

• This period of tribulation will last 3,5 years• There will be supernatural disasters (Rev. 6)

• Most believers* will have to die for their faith but will be saved

• (* the once that have come to faith after the rapture)

Page 73: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• But the Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached to the whole world

• (by 144.000 Jewish missionaries)

• Those who endure to the end of this tribulation will be delivered from anti-Christ

•by Jesus Christ (himself)

Page 74: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Christ returns - at Mount olive in Jerusalem

• He set’s up His earthly kingdom

• Israel will now finally receive and accept Christ

• Israel will finally receive their promised land back with the borders as described

• (much bigger then today’s UN borders of 1948)

Page 75: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Jesus the Messiah will rule Israel (and the world) from Jerusalem

• This will go on for 1000 years

• We who were “taken up” in the rapture (approx. 7 years earlier) will return and “rule with Him”

• (stop for a sec and try to imagine what that will look like…)

Page 76: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• What are the signs of His return (signs in plural)

• NB. Second coming (not the rapture)

• It is listed in Matt. 24 (verse 5 to 13)

• 1) Someone will say: I’m Christ (anti-christ)

• 2) There will be famines

• 3) There will be persecution and killings

Page 77: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• 4) The Jews will be hated by all nations• 5) People will turn away from faith• 6) There will be false prophets• 7) There will be wickedness and love will

grow cold• But the gospel will be preached to the

whole world• When you (Israel) see all these thing, you

know that the end is near • (anti-christ rule coming to an end)

Page 78: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Notice: Israel getting a part of their land back (in 1948) is not mentioned as a sign of His returning (second coming)

• Matt 24:32-34

• The parable of the fig tree – and the generation seeing this and that will not pass away until this has all taken place, is referring to the generation living during the tribulation

Did you know this?

Page 79: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• But what is the definition of a generation ?

• “a multitude of people living at the same time period with a definitive end” or

• “a group of individuals belonging to a specific category at the same time”

• In other words:

• A generation can very all depending…

Page 80: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• A generation in Noah’s days was 120 years (until the flood)

• A generation in Moses days was 40 years (until they entered the promised land)

• A generation in “the last days” is no more then 7 years (under anti-Christ rule)

Page 81: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• In conclusion:

• 1) When Jesus talks to his disciples in Matt. 24 about “the end of the age” he is talking about his own second coming

• He is not talking about “the end of the church age” and the rapture of the Saints,

• because this truth was not yet reveled to the disciples or the church…

Page 82: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• 2) The signs of His coming again (second coming), is primarily disciplinary actions or tribulations brought against the people and the nation of Israel

• It is orchestrated by God (and executed by antichrist) in an attempt to make them (Israel) repent and turn to God

• (As prophesied in Deut. 30:2) • God has been waiting for this for more

then 2500 years

Page 83: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• 4) Israel has not yet repented and consequently:

• not yet received their land back – (the whole land from Egypt to Eufrait)

• Israel of 1948 is just a foretaste of what is to come…

Page 84: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• 3) Eventually Israel do repent

• (towards the end of the tribulation period)

• Christ returns

• Israel receives Him

• Christ sets up his earthly kingdom

Page 85: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• On a personal note – I say it again:• Yes – we are to love the people of Israel

(the Jews) and the land of Israel at all time• But let us not in our own wisdom, passion

and eagerness demand things on behalf of Israel,

• that God himself has planned to complete in a process to “bring Israel back” into relationship with Him

Page 86: Israel and the prophecies january 2015

Israel and the prophecies

• Again: a warning in our support of Israel:

• Make sure you are not fighting the will and plan of God !!!

• He will have his way with Israel

• in his own time!
