Gathering Song: Prayer of Saint Francis

All:

1. Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me bring your love. Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord. And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.

2. Make me a channel of your peace. Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness, only light. And where there’s sadness, ever joy.

Refrain:

O Master, grant that I may never seekSo much to be consoled, as to console,To be understood as to understand,To be loved as to love with all my soul.

3. Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, In giving of ourselves that we receive, And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

We Celebrate This Season

Gracious God, We have gathered to pray for peace: open our hearts to the message of Advent.

All:May Christ dwell in our hearts through faith; May the peace of Christ dwell in the hearts of all people. May peace surround all our Advent preparations here at school and in our homesfor the coming of the Prince of Peace.

All:At all times, may we remember that you came to saveall nations and to draw all people into your kingdom of peace.

A Prayer for the Worldby

Rabbi Harold Kushner

Let the rain come down and wash away the ancient grudges, and bitter hatreds held and nurtured over generations.

Let the rain wash away the memory of the hurt and the neglect.

Then let the sun come out and

fill the sky with rainbows.

All:

Let the warmth of the sun

heal us wherever we are

broken. Let it burn away

the fog so that we can see

each other clearly, so that

we can see beyond labels,

beyond accents, gender

or skin color.

Let the warmth and

brightness of the sun melt

our selfishness, so that we

can share the joys and

feel the sorrows of our

neighbors.All:

Let the light of the sun

be so strong that we will

see all people as our

neighbors.

Let the earth, nourished by rain, bring forth flowers

to surround us with beauty. All:

And let the mountains teach our hearts to

reach upward to heaven. Amen.

Voices for Peace

Let our response be:

God of peace, please hear our

prayer.

God of peace, please hear our prayer.

Grant us peace, O God.

Blessing of Peace

Concluding Song

All: (Please repeat after Grade 4)

Go now in peace, go now in peace,

May the love of God surround you,

Everywhere, everywhere, you may go.
