“Let them draw near and declare to us what is going to take place; let them declare the former events, what they were, and we consider them, and know the latter end of them; or announce to us what is coming. He then came near where I stood. And when he came I feared and I fell on my face, but he said to me, “Understand, son of man, for the vision is for

the time of the end.”

YO’AL 1:14. HAVE A FAST SET APART; PROCLAIM A

RESTRAINT! GATHER THE ELDERS—ALL WHO INHABIT THE LAND—[INTO] THE HOUSE OF YHWH

YOUR ELOHIM, AND CALL OUT TO YHWH [FOR HELP].

Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the Zekeniam [and] all the

inhabitants of the land [into] the Beit YHWH Aloheicha, and cry unto YHWH ,

Day of Atonenment

Yo’al 2:1Blow ye the shofar in Tziyon,, and sound an alarm in My set-apart mountain: let all the inhabitants

of the land tremble: for ha Yom YHWH cometh, for [it is] nigh at hand;

A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there

hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, [even] to the years of many generations.

A day of darkness and of gloominess

Alas for the day! for ha Yom YHWH [is] at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

Y'Isra'al Neighbours are doomed

How careful should we all be to seek peace with YHWH, before the Raukh HaQodesh withdraws from us, or ceases to strive with us; before the

day of grace is over, or the day of life; before our everlasting state is determined! Let the poor,

despised, and afflicted, seek you YHWH, and seek to understand and keep his commandments

better, that they may be more humbled for their sins.

Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

Mikhah 6:8He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth YHWH require of thee, but to do justly, and to love

mercy, and to halak humbly with Aloheicha?

Turn from their sins, humble themselves, and obey YHWH.

Our chief hope of deliverance from judgments rests upon ( our) prayer.(s)

Before the decree bring forth, [before] the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of YHWH come upon you, before the day of YHWH S anger come upon you.

All men are by nature and practice unrighteous , without YHWH, without the true knowledge, fear, and worship of YHWH and are at enmity against him. It is a character that belongs to

YHWH's elect as well as others, while in a state of nature; and is sometimes used illustrate the love of YâHuWsHúa in dying for them, and the

grace of YHWH in the justification of them,

Who are the chaff

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is

counted for tzedakah.

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this

condemnation, wicked men, turning the grace of our Aluahiym into lasciviousness, and denying the only YHWH Aluahiym and Aloheicha Yâhuwshúa HaMaschiyach.

But here it describes not such who are wicked in heart and life in common only, but the reprobate

part of mankind, profligate and abandoned sinners, such as Yâhuwthâ´h speaks of,

and for whom the law is made, and against whom it lies,

Knowing this, that the Torah is not made for a righteous man, but for the transgressor and

disobedient, for the without yirat Shomayim and for sinners, for wick (unholy) and profane, for

murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For immoral men, for them that

defile themselves with shochvim es zachar (homosexuals, sodomite), for kidnappers, for

shakranim (liars), for nishba'im lasheker (perjurers, false swearer), and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound teaching;

The Torah is not made for a righteous man,

The Resha'im (unrighteous) [are] not so: but

[are] like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek tzedek, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of YHWHיS

anger.

Seek ye YHWH

The sword has not a commission against you

Come, My people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be

over past.For, behold, YHWH cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their

iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Ask YHWH, and he will be a refuge to you from the storm and from

the tempest.

For Gazashall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation:

they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Akron shall be rooted up.

The four cities mentioned here are in Philistia, the nation southwest of Judah on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Age-old enemies of

Y’Isra’al from the days of Joshua, the Philistines were known for their cruelty. YHWH judged these cities for their idolatry and their constant taunting of Y’Isra’al. These four cities were four of the five capitals. The fifth (Gath)

had probably already been destroyed.

Woe unto the inhabitants

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Keretites (Cretans)! the word of YHWH[is against you; O Kenaan, the land of the Pelishtim (Philistines), I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

[Are] ye not as Benai Kushim unto Me, O Benai Yisrael? saith YHWH Have not I brought up Y‘Isra‘al out of the Eretz Mitzrayim? and the Pelishtim (Philistines) from Kaphtor, and

the Aram (Syria) from Kir?

Philistines are said to come,

and who are called the remnant of the country of Caphtor,

Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Pelishtim, [and] to cut off from Tzor and Tzidon every helper that remaineth: for YHWH (will spoil the Pelishtim, the remnant of the country of

Caphtor.

is the island of Crete; and that the Philistines came from thence into Palestine; and that the Cherethites are the

ancient Cretians; the language, manners, arms, religion and gods, of the Cretians and Philistines, being much the same; though so they might be, as being a colony of the

Philistines;

Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off [with] the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut

thyself? O thou Sword YHWH , how long [will it be] ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy sheath, rest, and

be still. How can it be quiet, seeing YHWH hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore?

there hath he appointed it.

Though a learned man

who gives into the opinion that these were royal guards, yet thinks they were not strangers and idolaters, but proselytes

to the Hebraic religion at least; and rather Y'isra'al'ite's, choice selected men, men of strength and valour, of military

courage and skill, picked out of the nation, to guard the king's person; and who were called Cherethites and Pelethites, from the kind of shields and targets they wore, called "cetra" and

"pelta": and it is a notion several of the Y’Isra’al writers have, that they were two families in Y’Isra’al; but it seems plain and evident that a foreign nation is here meant, which lay on the sea coast, and belonged to the Philistines. Another learned man (g) thinks they are the Midianites, the same with the

Cretians that Luke joins with the Arabians,

Kres (Cretes) and Arabians (Yishmaelites), we do hear them speak in our language (glossa) the

wonderful works of Aluahiym

"a people who have sinned, that they might be destroyed:'

as the Midianites are with the Arabians and Amalekites by Josephus (h); however, a woe is

denounced against them, and they are threatened with desolation. The Vulgate Latin version is, "a nation of destroyed ones": and

the Targum,

Kres (Cretes) and Arabians (Yishmaelites),

“ again this speaks of a people who have sinned, that they might be destroyed:'

And the coast shall be for the remnant of the Bayit Yehudah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of

Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for YHWH Aloheicha shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

All the prophets, even while prophesying doom and destruction, speak of "the remnant"—a small group of YHWH's people who remain faithful to him and whom YHWH will restore to the land. Although YHWH said he would destroy Judah, he also promised to save some,

thus keeping his original covenant to preserve Abraham's descendants

And the sea coast shall be dwellings [and] cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

As for me, hinnei, My Covenant [is] with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations

for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make

nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish My Covenant between Me and thee and thy zera (descendants) after thee in their generations for an everlasting Covenant, to be a Aloha )unto thee,

and to thy zera (descendants) after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy zera (descendants) after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the

eretz Kenaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their Aluahiym

Neither shall thy name any more be called Avram (exalted father), but thy name shall be Avraham

Because YHWH is Sacred,

YHWH cannot allow sin to continue. But YHWH is also faithful to his promises. He cannot stay angry forever with Israel or with you, if you are his child, because he loves his

children and always seeks their good.

I have heard the reproach of Moav, and the reviling's of the children of Ammon, whereby they

have reproached My people, and magnified [themselves] against their border.

At times the whole world seems to mock YHWH and those who have faith in him. When you are ridiculed, remember that YHWH hears and will answer. Eventually, in YHWH's

timing, justice will be carried out.

Therefore [as] I live, saith YHWH Tzava'ot, the Aluahiym of Y'Isra'al,

Surely Moav shall be as Sedom, and the children of Ammon as Amorah, [even] the

breeding of nettles, and salt pits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of My people

shall spoil them, and the remnant of My people shall possess them.

The nations of Moab and Ammon trace their roots to Lot's incest with his daughters after escaping the

destruction of evil Sodom and Gomorrah

This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified [themselves]

against the people of YHWH of Tzava'ot.

YHWH [will be] terrible unto them: for he will famish all the YHWHs of the earth; and [men] shall shachad (bow down to) him, every one from his place, [even]

all the isles of the heathen.

“This, without doubt, refers to the time to come, when all the inhabitants of the world shall know that the YHWH Is Aloah, and that His is the greatness and

power and glory

Ye Ethiopians also, ye [shall be] slain by my sword.The fortunes of Ethiopia were bound up with those of

Egypt which was subject to Ethiopic dynasties

Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans,

that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle [and] bend the bow.

The Ethiopians - Hebrews Cush, Phut, and the Ludim. This army was composed of many nations. Cush. which we translate Ethiopians, almost invariably means the

Arabians; and here, those Arabs that bordered on Egypt near the Red Sea. Phut probably means the Libyans; for Phut settled in Libya, according to Josephus. Phut and

Cush were two of the sons of Ham, and brothers to Mitsráyim, the father of the Egyptians,

And the sons of Ham; Kush, and Mitzrayim, and Put, and Kena'an and the Ludim were descended from Mitsráyim;

Beresheet 10:13.And Mitzrayim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and

Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,

Bochart contends that the Ludim were Ethiopians, and that they were famous for the use of the bow.

YirmeYahu 30:4And these [are] the Devarim that YHWH spake concerning Y‘Isra‘al and concerning Yehudah.

For thus saith YHWH: "We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of shalom."

Yirmeyahu is to write what YHWH had spoken to him. The very words are such as the Rauch HaQodesh teaches. These are the words YHWH ordered to be

written; and promises written by his order, are truly his word. He must write a description of the trouble the

people were now in, and were likely to be in. A happy end should be put to these calamities. Though the

afflictions of the set apart may last long, they shall not last always. Y'Isra'al ( the Jews being part of it) shall be

restored again.

They shall obey, or hearken to the Mashiyach, the YâHuWsHúa HaMaschiyach, the Son of

Dawyid, their King

The deliverance of the Jews from Babylon, is pointed out in the prophecy, but the restoration and happy

state of Israel and Judah,

when converted to YâHuWsHúa their King, are foretold; also the miseries of the nations before the

coming of YâHuWsHúa. All men must honour the Father, and come into the service and worship of

YHWH by him. YHWH, YHWH pardons the sins of the believer, and breaks off the yoke of sin and HaSatan,

that he may serve YHWH without fear, in righteousness and true holiness before him all the remainder of his days, as the redeemed subject of

YHWH Aloah

In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Kush afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Mitzrayim: for, lo, it cometh.

For the day [is] near, even the Yom YHWH [is] near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the Goyim.

The prophecy of the destruction of Egypt is very full. Those who take their lot with YHWH's enemies, shall be with them in punishment. The king of Babylon and his

army shall be instruments of this destruction. YHWH often makes one wicked man a scourge to another. No place in the land of Egypt shall escape the fury of the Chaldeans. YHWH is known by the judgments he executes. Yet these

are only present effects of the Divine displeasure, not worthy of our fear, compared with the wrath to come, from

which YâHuWsHúa delivers his people.

There is reason to believe that Egypt itself is meant under the term Ethiopians.

And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation,

[and] dry like a wilderness.

Sometimes we must look to history to see the future

Zephaniah mentioned the large nation to the south and then moved to the nation that invaded from the north,

Assyria. Though declining, Assyria was still the strongest military power of the day, dominating the world for three centuries and destroying any nation in its path. Nineveh,

the large capital city, was considered impregnable.

However, just as Zephaniah predicted,

Nineveh was wiped out in 612 B.C. by the Babylonians, who would become the next world power.

To predict the destruction of Nineveh 10 years before it happened would be equivalent to predicting the destruction of London, Tokyo, Paris, or New York. Nineveh was the ancient Near Eastern centre for

culture, technology, and beauty. It had great libraries, buildings, and a vast irrigation system that created lush gardens in the city. The city wall was 60 miles long, 100 feet high, and over 30 feet wide and was fortified with

1,500 towers. Yet the entire city was destroyed so completely that its very existence was questioned until it was discovered, with great difficulty, by 19th-century

archaeologists.

Nineveh had indeed become as desolate and dry as the desert.

And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; [their]

voice shall sing in the windows; desolation [shall be] in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar

work.The effect of the consequent desolation should be (for the gifts and calling of YHWH are without repentance)

to leave the whole land free for the possession of Israel. For YHWH would visit them, and would bring again His captives; and the remnant of His people

should possess it. YHWH will judge and famish all the gods of the earth; and all men should worship Him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the

nations. Ethiopia, Nineveh, all the mighty ones of the nations, should fall and be made desolate.

This is the judgment of the nations of which we have spoken, of which Nebuchadnezzar was the first instrument, but which is here introduced in

view of the last days, when the power established by YHWH shall be in its last rebellion against Him.

This [is] the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I [am], and [there is] none

beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, [and] wag his hand.

This shows us the beginning of the end, a time of prayer and fasting, what seems a distant war will

soon become a global one, fearful has it is, through the tribulations, and pain comes

salvation
