Last fall, the CTA communicated that Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation ("MCPR") was proposing a 67% increase in cost for use of courts for league play, effective January 1, 2014.

On behalf of league players, the CTA advocated at the Mecklenburg County Park Commissioners meeting held on March 12, 2013 against such a large fee increase.

The CTA also continued to share concerns about court conditions at facilities where league play occurs and the severe shortage of public courts in Mecklenburg County.

Despite these efforts, the park commissioners voted to approve the 67% court use increase for league play.

For 2014, towards fulfilling our contract with MCPR, the CTA has decided not to pass along the full amount of the increased cost from MCPR to league players registering for teams that utilize the public park courts.
