INTRODUCTION
Tourism is concerned with travelling for recreational, relaxation and business purposes.
Adventure and sports tourism is a rapidly growing sector of the global travel industry, generating
billions of revenue every year. The adventure & sports industry is significantly young and
dynamic. The industry was almost unheard of twenty years ago. The industry generates about 5
million dollars in 1970. It crossed more than 500 million dollars in 1983 (Pichot, Pierre and
Burlot, 2009). Sports tourism is comparatively a new concept in definition of business, however
the tourism and sports expertise are beginning to realize the significant business potential of
adventure and sports sector and are making efforts to develop this industry. Adventure tourism is
an exotic growing field, whether it is a seasoned adventure, water sporting or land based sports.
The following report will explore suggestions about managing business of outdoor adventure or
sports tourism activities. It will describe about the business plan of CYZ Ltd. (an outdoor
adventure travel company), to organize an outdoor adventure or sports training programme,
engaging other organization and people to participatein it and then inviting suggestions for its
future management.
TASK 1
Mountaineering
Mountaineering or mountain climbing is an outdoor sport activity, hobby or profession of
climbing, skiing and hiking mountains. It is one of the most popular outdoor sports of today’s
generation; people like to climb mountains and wants to achieve records. Every year substantial
number of people across the world participates in the outdoor adventure activities like rock
climbing, hiking, mountain biking etc (Fynn, 2004). It began as an effort to reach the highest
peak of the mountain; it has segmented into specializations that introduce different components
of the mountain and consist of three elements: rock-craft, snow-craft and skiing, depending on
whether the route chosen is over rock, snow or ice. All require athletics, experience, abilities and
technical knowledge to maintain safety and precautions. Climatic conditions in the mountains are
unpredictable so shelter is a vital source of safety for the mountaineers. Mountaineers use
different forms of shelter suitable to the situations and conditions that includes hut, bivouac,
snow cave, base camp and hut. there are many hazards related to mountaineering or rock

climbing like rock, ice and glacier falling, ice slopes, snow slopes, solar radiation, volcanic
erosion, bad weather etc. There are two main styles of it:

Importance of the mountaineering training programme
As discussed earlier the training event is organized to identify the efficiency of workers
