Unit aimThis unit will help with shooting and finishing. It will include the different styles of shooting and finishing. . When, where and how to shoot.Learning outcomesThere are four learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to:
1.Deliver into pre determined area2.Low/high with curl and swerve and out swinging3.On target with both feet to include half and volleys4.Corners and across the goalkeeper

Group Task 1
• In groups discuss what you already know about shooting
• Record it on flip charts or your note books
• Give examples of players who have excellent range of shooting techniques and who are the best finishers in the world

FA Technical Detail
• Positive attitude• Good first touch• Accuracy is important before power• Low shots are more successful than high ones• Aim for the far post and always observe the goalkeepers position• Follow up for rebounds

Group Task 3
• Imagine you are a technical team of coaches• Your task it to design a technical practice (unopposed) coaching session
moving into a skill practice (opposed)• Once you have completed this you will need to present it to the
technical director for feedback• Think of the players, space, equipment needs.• The session should last 20 minutes

Session Plan Shooting – receiving from the GK
Organisation• Set up 30 x 10 area • Players receive ball from GK• Player shoots then joins opposite
diagonal corner• Players use either side to shoot with
both feet• Players on other side progress to follow
up for rebounds

• As part of the FA’s Long Term Player Development coaches are encouraged to help players develop in the four corners of development
• Discuss and record some of the areas you as coaches would like to develop in each corner
