Tips for Effective Basketball Training

Preparation• Schedule your time in the gym • Plan your workouts in advance • Evaluate your game and envision the situation

RepetitionThe only way to get

better is to put time into your training. Ensuring

that you do a high quantity of quality reps is

the best way to get better!

AttitudeTrain with the same effort and competitiveness that

you put into games. Having the right attitude when you train is one of

the best ways to get better.

ConcentrationIt’s imperative that you give 100% attention to what you are working on. If you are

concentrated during practice, then you will be

training yourself to be concentrated during a game

as well.

TechniqueAlways use the best

techniques so that you gain the muscle

memory and learn the proper way to do

things. However, at the same time, make mistakes. The old

saying, “if you’re not making mistakes in your workout you are making

a big mistake” holds true when training for

basketball.

ConditioningYour body and mind

both need to be conditioned.

Running sprints and lifting weights are as

important while training as

practicing your shot. Additionally, you

need to ensure that your nutrition is kept

on point.

Self-evaluation/Track your training

Basketball training isn't for everyone. It requires that you put in a lot of work and have a great support system who can spot your weaknesses and help you get better. The

only way to know if you are getting better is to record yourself and track your progress.

Put the ball down and get rest! It will help you get better

and prevent injuries.

Get Rest

Train to get better at the game instead of playing to train

When you skip training and only play games then you are at a huge disadvantage. You can’t track your progress or repeat a specific shot when you are in a game. There’s a reason that

the best players still train and don’t just play games- because it’s extremely important! Training is the only way that you will get better.
