Topics

• Main reasons for using the brownfield sites in photovoltaics

• Experience in real models of building PVE on brownfield sites in examples

• Important points in the construction of PVE on brownfields

Page 4: 11 jan otcenas

Main reasons for using the brownfield sites in photovoltaics• Removing of the old ecologic burden - the

revitalization • Limiting environmental hazards

and industrial pollution• Improving the natural environment and

landscape

Photovoltaic is a financially acceptable solution for revitalizing the land and for use otherwise unusable land, as part of investment in commercial projects.

Experience in construction• PVE Dolný Bar – swampy land

– Installed power: 1 MWp– Reference: Solar Time– In operation from 2010

• PVE Želiezovce – municipal dump– Installed power: 3 MWp– Reference: Solar Time, SOLAR Bohemia, Spema Group– In operation from 2011

• PVE Dobšiná – asbestos quarry– Installed power: 2 MWp– Reference: SOLAR Bohemia, Spema Group– In operation from 2010

• PVE Dolní Rožinka – uranium pond– Installed power: 4,3 MWp– Reference: SOLAR Bohemia, Spema Group– In operation from 2009

• PVE Závadka – wastewater treatment plant area– Installed power: 1 MWp– Reference: SOLAR Bohemia, Spema Group– In operation from 2010

PVE Dolný Barswampy land

• Problems– High level of groundwater– Swampy land with a solid bedrock at a depth of 1.6

m to 6 m• Solutions for longtime stability of construction

– Additional sleeves are added to anchor screws– Some anchor screws are long up to 3m– Inverters and other electrical equipmnet are placed

higher than usually– All cables have protection to the water environment

(waterproof certification)

PVE Želiezovce – municipal dump

• Problem– There exist higher values of chemical agresivity of

environment• Solutions

– For protection against chemically aggressive environment had been planned additional coating for zinced construction. Given the good results of geological survey additional coating did not realized.

– We added the portion of soil surface in the thickness of 1.5 m

– There are running measuring for monitoring the degradation process of waste for risk reduction in operation.

Important issues concerning the construction of PV on

brownfield• Geological survey with a sufficient number of probes

to create maps of soil, static and chemical characteristics.

• Proposal for a suitable anchoring structures and erosion and corrosion protection measures and improve mechanical stability

• Developing a methodology for tracking changes in the ground during the operation of PVE

• Developing crisis plans for operating the plant with respect characteristics of ground. Proposal solution of negative events for minimalize outage of production
