Join John Wood, Founder and Board Co-Chair of Room to Read, as he and salesforce.com Executive Vice Chairman Frank van Veenendaal discuss how salesforce.com has helped Room to Read (www.roomtoread.org) run itself like a business to become one of the most efficient and fastest-growing non-profits in the world. In 1999, at the age of thirty-five, John Wood (http://www.creatingroomtoread.com/meet-john-wood/) quit a lucrative career at Microsoft and set himself a bold and ambitious goal: to make sure that millions of children across the developing world would no longer be told they had “lost the lottery of life”, and would
13
instead gain an education. As the organization began scaling rapidly to ten countries across Asia and Africa, salesforce.com helped the organization tackle the challenges of expansion while maintaining the integrity of its original vision. salesforce.com enables Room to Read to comprehensively track information across programs, business development, and field operations, and allows the organization to monitor each of its 15,000 active projects and efficiently manage data and programmatic enhancements while maintaining transparency and accountability to its donors. John and Frank will talk about the ways salesforce.com has helped Room to Read achieve maximum results, the role of corporate social responsibility in improving communities, the Salesforce.com Foundation’s integrated philanthropic approach, and Room to Read’s inspirational story of scale and success. 10:30am - 11:30am Transformative Data Collection Using Mobile and Salesforce
Got Mobile and Salesforce? Thinking about it? In this session participants will learn how they can apply best practices when automating a complex process and the pitfalls to avoid when implementing a mobile app that integrates with Salesforce. This session will show how City of Hope has used Salesforce and mobilization to revolutionize the data collection process for medical research. These incredible results can encourage other organizations with complex data collection needs to adopt innovative technologies to improve data management. This session will highlight City of Hope’s vision - from the decision to implement Salesforce to mobilizing their team - and how they overcame the challenges they faced while applying the Salesforce system in a medical research study. We will also focus on their strategic vision for the future and how Salesforce and mobility will be used to further streamline their visionary research programs.
