Welcome message

Lee-Gong Lau Organising Chairman MSH 2011

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we would like to warmly invite you to attend the IXth National Haematology Scientific Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Haematology (MSH). The meeting will be held at the Pullman Hotel, Kuching, Sarawak from 29 April – 1 May 2011. The theme of this meeting will be “Advancing Haematology in the Community”.

An exciting scientific programme is being prepared with acute leukaemia, stem cell issues, lymphoma, plasma cell dyscrasiae and myeloproliferative neoplasms being the major topics. In accordance with our theme, common problems that are encountered by doctors in the community setting such as anaemia, venous thromboembolism and autoimmune diseases also feature prominently in our programme. In addition, there will be separate nursing and laboratory symposia led by both local and regional speakers. In short, there will be something for everyone and we have endeavoured to cover most pertinent haematology issues.

The opportunity to combine business with pleasure at MSH 2011 is most compelling. Kuching is a quaint city full of delightful surprises. Its diverse and unique culture has much to offer. A social programme with a strong Sarawak flavour can easily be arranged should you consider the delights of a vacation in your plans. Among the list of must-sees are the Bako National Park, the Semenggoh Orang Utan Wildlife Centre and the Sarawak Cultural Village.

All in all, there is really no good reason for you not to come to this meeting. So, mark your calendar and start planning for an educational escapade to Kuching next year. We do earnestly look forward to welcoming you to Kuching in 2011!
