Telepresence Interop Challenges- Features

• Lack of an open Interoperability standard across multiple vendors.

• All equipment use SIP, H323 and H.264 however there are proprietary elements that prevent smooth Interop.

• No Interop solution without using additional equipment to trans-code that adds delay and quality issues

• All feature parity not available even with trans-coding equipment:

• Encryption • Presentation/data sharing capabilities• Multi-Screen Support• Single button dialing & Audio/video add in.

• Network fault tolerance very low • Strict policing at L2 devices• Higher Jitter and Delay to span geographic distances• High Out of sequence packets and low buffers in the

MCUs.• Lack of a central registration point for service providers.

• NAT non-compliance (H323) prevents extended reach.
