Used for filming the opening of our thriller.Inserted SD Card and pressed record. We stabilised the camera on a tripod for when we wanted shots to be steady, and used the camera handheld for when we wanted to create an eerie atmosphere.

The battery died because we didn’t have a charger on hand when filming.

We borrowed someone else’s charger to ensure that we could continue filming in the same definition, instead of risking using another camera and the quality not being as good.

Make sure that you are equipped for the day and that you have a battery charger or at least a spare battery that is fully charged on hand.

Tripod Used for stabilising the camera when needed. We mounted the camera on the tripod and adjusted the height and angle according to the type of shot we required. The spirit level built into the tripod ensured that the shot wasn’t uneven.

Getting the right position of the tripod as at certain angles, shadows of/the tripod could be seen as there was a lack of room in certain places we were filming.

Being patient in order to get the desired shot and be positive that it was up to standard.

We learnt how to use the tripod to its full potential allowing us to get certain, steady shots despite having to utilise the tripod in a small space.

SD Card Stores the footage of the film so it can be transferred onto a computer for editing.SD Card was inserted into the camera to store footage of our thriller film.

We didn’t have any problems with the SD Card.

N/A I believe the reason we didn’t have any issues with the SD Card is because it initially started out as blank, which allowed us to film about 8GB of footage.

IPhone Used to take photos. We took stills and add a black and white effect to create a guideline for the storyboard during the planning of our thriller opening.

Ran out of storage.

Used a different phone with the same quality camera.

Make sure you have enough storage available on your phone before taking photographs to prevent hassle.

Blogger Online blog.Used to document the research and planning stages of creating our thriller opening.

Blogger would sometimes close down unexpectedly and delete work which would have to be redone as it doesn’t have an auto-save function.

Re-do the work and save as you go along to prevent losing work again.

Always save the work and be sure that you have a strong internet connection to prevent disconnection and losing any possible work.

Youtube Online video sharing website. We used this when researching alternative thriller openings, to find non copyright music to play in our thriller and used a platform in which we uploaded our first draft and final product of our thriller opening.

There were no problems.

N/A We learnt how to upload a video onto YouTube.

GIF Maker Used to make GIF’s. We used this tool online to create GIF’s to show certain shots used in the thriller openings we analysed.

No problems. N/A I learnt how to create a GIF, download and embed it.

Prezi An online power-point creating website.I used this facility to create 2 power-point in which we presented to two different audiences in order to receive feedback.

How to work Prezi, as it involved creating ‘paths’ which was a feature I wasn’t familiar with.

I watched videos on YouTube to learn how to use Prezi to make sure that my presentation looked professional.

I learnt how to use Prezi.

Microsoft word Microsoft office word is used to create documents. I used it to create and display a table much like this when making our storyboard.

No problems. N/A N/A

PowToon Another online presentation creator online much like Prezi. We used this to present an evaluation in the research of the thriller genre.

PowToon was difficult to use as it involved having to manipulate premade slides which were hard to tamper with.

We googled how to make use of the features in PowToon.

I learnt how to use PowToon.

Slideshare An online Google International search engine. Used

for research and as the main search engine used to access websites such a Blogger, YouTube, Prezi etc.

No problems N/A N/A

Gmail Google’s email service. This was used to contact our media teacher with when he was assigned certain tasks and also used when communicating with our location host.

No problems. N/A N/A

Mac Apple product computers which were used as the hardware in which we used Final Cut Pro, the editing software we used to edit our thriller opening with.

Sometimes the mac would disconnect from the internet, disallowing us to communicate between different computers when transferring files.

We used a memory stick to transfer files as some of the Mac’s wouldn’t connect to the internet at all.

Learnt to use a Mac and it’s facilities.

Evaluation 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Final cut pro The software we used to edit our thriller opening and our ident.

Final Cut Pro would sometimes shut down unexpectedly which could cause work to become lost despite its auto-save feature.

There was no solution to this. If we lost any work we had to redo it as there was no way to retrieve it.

Learnt how to have patience with the software when it didn’t cooperate.

Powerpoint Microsoft office powerpoint was used to present part of our research in a different form to a word document to show that I am capable of using different forms of media.

Excellent 1st draft Jess. Few typos and grammar errors and add in Emaze, but otherwise ace!
