Why use Google Drive for assessment?

Google Docs 1. Ideal for giving formative feedback on
a. Collaborative writing/Peer review (Culture gram writing activity--7th grade)
b. Longer writing assignments c. Longer answer questions d. Ongoing, collaborative projects
2. Advantages a. You can see writing as it happens and give feedback in form of
comments at anytime b. You can check revision history to see when and how it’s been
edited c. Students can respond to and edit comments and you can see
how d. Students can share with each other for peer editing
3. How could you use it in your class?
Google Draw
1. Ideal for giving feedback on: a. Visual assignments b. Visual and text assignments
2. Advantages a. You can see what students are doing as they’re
working on it b. Students can collaborate and give feedback c. Students can make multiple revisions on work after
feedback(as opposed to doing pen/paper drawings) d. Drawings can be printed later
Google forms
1. Ideal for a. Assessing whole class understanding b. multiple choice, short answer tasks
2. Advantages over pen/paper quiz a. See data quickly b. Can set to auto-grade (Start at number 16) c. Kids can make one as a review, share it with others
Google Presentation

Creating/Sharing/Organizing the assessments 1. Create a template doc, draw, or presentation for the
assessment 2. Name the doc in a systematic way
a. Username--MapReadings--SS7 3. Set sharing settings to anyone with link can view 4. Share link with students by:
a. Adding it to Moodle page b. Sending in Email c. Other
5. Students make copy of template 6. Students rename their copy and share with you (and other
students) 7. Create a folder in Drive and move students’ work to the
