GOOGLE MAP STEP1

Google map uses many moble phones that have GPS function to collect location information.

GOOGLE MAP STEP2

When these devices are using GPS to find locations, they also send information to Google server, which includes Cell-ID, Lat/Long, RTT, etc.

GOOGLE MAP STEP3

If the device has no GPS function but has Google map, this software will send signaling to Google server by current network to get location information that was sent by devices with GPS in the same location.

GOOGLE MAP STEP4

Google map will use these information to calculate the location then send the result to mobile phone. That also means the more mobile phones with GPS enabled, the more accurate location we get.
