Analogue Samplers

Preamplifier output is continuously sampled. A signal above threshold stops the sampling and samples can be read out.

LoKI – Broadband SANS

IDEAS can provide detector readout solutions on integrated circuits (ASICs) that • help mitigating the technological risk. The solutions can involve integrated circuits (IC) off-the-shelf or existing designs • to mitigates schedule risks.

From ESS Construction Proposal LoKI, A.J.JacksonAnd Kalliopi Kanaki, 28. Feb. 2013.

Compact SANS for Biological Samples

Baseline: SANS2D (ISIS) and D33 (ILL) use pixel-cell detectors from ORDELA. With 1cm pitch and discrete electronics readout.

IDEAS designs ASICs for detector readout that enables • very small pixels (microns to centimeter)• reads out many channels (thousands)• reduces the cost per channel (a few EUR per channel)
