+ ProblemsThe Company could not optimize its revenue model because its yield management system was slow and erratic. The stale results analyses undermined the entire strategic manufacturing process.

The yield management system took 2 hours to get a yield analysis result. With a maximum of just twelve analytical results per day, any operative, proactive strategy was stymied.

The Company could not properly navigate the system’s onerous user interface. As such, it consistently took nearly 10 minutes to simply start a yield analysis.

The Company sought a DBMS that was equipped with high performance, rich functionalities1 and industry-leading reliability2.

1) The Company sought a DBMS that was 10 times faster than its current DBMS with rich features including but not limited to vast, on-disk DBMS such as Large Object Binary (LOB)data type, Stored Procedure and mandatory analytic functions.2) Forrester Research quantified the “real-cost” of reliability or lack thereof. The study showed that a 10-hour outage at DELL caused an 83 million dollar loss, while 33-hours of downtime ata major chip maker resulted in a 275 million dollar loss.

+ SolutionALTIBASE HDB in-memory DBMS with its Hybrid functionality met all of The Company’s requirements. The Company was fortified with a performance increase of 10 times over its legacy, on-disk DBMS1. The Company implemented its yield management system on the feature-rich ALTIBASE HDB base with ease2.

speed and rich functionality for nearly 13 years.

In that time, The Company observed ALTIBASE HDB’s best-in-class reliability at other industry-leading manufacturers alongside its specific systems. As a result, The Company integrated ALTIBASE HDB into its own yield management system and has achieved full optimization.

The Company is armed with the ability to get a complete results’ analysis in 10 minutes (1 minute of operation time).

The Company has further deployed ALTIBASE HDB in its semiconductor, LED, and LCD production processes. It possesses fully optimized yield analysis, data management, and defect classification allowing for adjustments to production processes on the fly.

The Company is continuing the propagation of ALTIBASE HDB, with procedures in place to integrate into its Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Master Data Management (MDM), Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Global Authentication.
