He was born in Oahu Hawaii Hes dad is a famous surferHe started
to learn how to surf at the age of 5!At 17, he became the youngest
invitee to make the surfing finals at the Pipeline MastersAbout a
week later he suffered a surfing injury and got 150 stiches in his
forehead which ended his career as a pro surfer He learned the
guitar at the age of 14 and started songwriting at the age of
16

Johnsons first album came out in Feb 2001 His first album was
entitled Brushfire FairytalesIn 2003 he released his second album
On and OnIt was the first album to be recorded in his studio Mango
TreeMango Tree was located in his home town

October 2004, Johnson returned to the Mango Tree Studio with
Topol and PodlewskOn March 1 2005 In Between Dreams was released In
2006 Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George came
out which is a soundtrack albumIt was the first soundtrack album to
make it to number 1 since 2003 In 2008 Sleep Through The Static
came out and it was recorded using 100% solar energy at the
Solar-Powered Plastic Plant studio in Los Angeles2004-09 Between
Dreams, Curious George, and Sleep Through the Static
In June 2010 he released his fifth album To The SeaHis first
world tour was in 2010. All of the profits from it was donated to
charity's in 2012 he had Hawaiian Island Tour On July 22, 2000,
Johnson married his college sweetheart KimThey have three children,
two boys and a girlThe family still lives in Johnsons home town

In an interveiw with a New Zealand radio station Johnson talked
about how he is constantly aiming to build relationships with local
pro-environment, non-profit groupsHe also said "We try to raise
money for a lot of these groups who are doing positive things in
the community. We try to focus mostly on environmental education,
just trying to get kids out into nature, supporting local farms and
things like that.Johnson and his wife have there own organization
as well Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation to benefit the children
of Hawaii and promote environment awareness
