2. Philosophy of the company JSC Polotsk-Steklovolokno is one of the leading manufacturers of glass fiber based materials in the world. Our product portfolio, which includes glass fiber, rovings, glass yarns, electric insulation fabrics and fabrics for GRPs, building glass fabrics and glass meshes, silica materials and others, allows us to fulfill orders meant for various industries including automotive and aerospace industry, shipbuilding, electronics, metallurgy, military-industrial complex, building industry and other applications. Geography of supplies and services JSC Polotsk-Steklovolokno has business contacts on 4 continents. The markets of CIS, European, the US and South-East Asian countries have been displaying trust in our materials for many years already. We find it essential to offer our customers some extra services together with the goods to satisfy their demands best. We take care about the customs clearance procedures at our own customs terminal, and can arrange dispatch and delivery of the goods by any mode of transport (i.e. by truck, train, ship or aircraft). 4. Technological process JSC Polotsk-Steklovolokno has a number of advantages while working in the markets where high competition is involved. The main advantage though is that the process of glass fiber production at our company comprises all technological processes, starting from formation of rovings, textile glass fiber, and its processing, and ending with thermal-chemical treatment of glass fabrics. This allows to present a wider range of products, quickly react to our customers needs and requirements, be stable and flexible in the world markets. 5. Technological process Batch preparation Modern technologies of batch preparation process ensure drying, grinding, and grading of any natural materials. 6. Technological process Glass melting Glass melting processes are implemented in glass melting recuperative furnaces with use of modern refractories and electric boost systems, with high degree of automatic control systems and adjustment of glass melting processes. 7. Technological process Glass fiber forming This process is realized by two means: direct glass melting process and marble process. The main volume of products is made by a direct glass melting process which is more advanced. Fiber produced in the form of direct-rovings further undergoes drying (high frequency drier or convection) and is used as a commercial grade direct-roving, or is rewound and subject to texturizing depending on its final use. Fiber produced in the form of glass yarns further goes to twisting. 8. Technological process Twisting, plying Equipment in the unwinding and twisting department ensures the production of yarns of any configuration, different number of plies and twists, package weights depending on further application of the product. 9. Technological process Warping, slashing Warping is the process of warp preparation for further weaving which is a system of glass yarns wound in parallel on a warping beam. To protect yarns in the process of weaving, glass yarn is exposed to additional treatment after warp preparation, i.e. slash is applied on yarns. 10. Technological process Weaving Our state-of-the-art weaving machinery allows to produce any types of glass fabrics in different thickness, weave type, yarn count, and width up to 3 meters. 11. Technological process Thermal-chemical treatment Glass fabric can be subject to different types of treatment at the request of the customer. This can be thermal and chemical treatment (application of different impregnation compositions), which gives specially required properties to glass fabrics. 12. Types of glasses Glass fiber and products on its basis are made by the company from different types of glasses. This enables us to occupy different market niches and offer a diverse range of products. E-glass (alumina borosilicate) Main components content*: SiO2 - 53+/-0.5% Al2O3 14 +/-0.5% B2O3 9 +/-0.5% CaO 19,5 (22*) +/-0.7% MgO 2,5 (1,0*) +/-0.4% (* in roving compositions) -glass is the most popular type of glass of general purpose which is used for the production of electric and thermal insulation, building materials and materials for GRPs where stability and high electrical endurance is a must. 13. Types of glasses Silica Main components content: SiO2 - 95+/-1.0% Al2O3 2.5-3.0% PURESIL Main components content: SiO2 - 99 +/-1.0% Al2O3 0.4+/-0.2% Materials made of silica and Puresil are used as high temperature insulation and as a good alternative to replace asbestos and quartz articles. With operating temperature exceeding +10000 these materials are positioned as an excellent thermal barrier and protective means from fire and effect of extreme temperatures. 14. Glass yarns, rovings, chopped fiber 15. Glass yarns Our company produces glass yarns with linear density from 3,4 to 300 tex and fiber diameter from 4 to 13 mkm.Depending on the application glass yarns are made on different types of sizing to ensure their best consumer and technological properties in further processing. Type of sizing, linear density, yarn structure (number of plies, twist value) can be selected based on the customers requirements. 16. Glass yarns Glass yarns are used during the production of fabrics, tapes and meshes for different applications (electric insulation, building, GRPs); as electric insulation braiding of wires and cables, starters and transformers; as reinforcing filler of materials for GRPs and glass tissues; and for the production of cords and stockings. 17. Glass yarns The company also manufactures direct yarns (i.e. yarns with zero twisting) meant for the production of glass reinforced plastic articles by means of winding, press materials and weaving. 18.
