Introduction

• The Cabinet Committee Report on the Review of the Implementation of the Education Policy 1979 states that the method of teaching in Malaysia is to enable school leavers to use the knowledge in everyday situations and work situations as well as to pursue higher education

T should focus on added value (nilai tambah); CCTS, ICT Skills, learning how to learn, future studies (KMD), multiple intelligences,contextual learning, constructivisme learning.Besides that, T shouldnt forget to instill patriotisme and nationalisme.

History

• 1982 - 305 schools were chosen all over M’sia for a trial period of KBSR.

• 1983 – Implementation of KBSR in all schools in M’sia

• 1984 – “Amalan Perdagangan” is revised and changed into Living Skills (Kemahiran Hidup)

• 1988 – Stated in NEP: “Pendidikan di Malaysia adalah suatu usaha berterusan ke arah memperkembangkan lagi potensi individu secara menyeluruh dan bersepadu untuk mewujudkan insan yang harmonis dan seimbang dari segi intelek, rohani, emosi, dan jasmani berdasarkan kepercayaan dan kepatuhan kepada Tuhan. Usaha ini adalah bagi melahirkan rakyat Malaysia yang berilmu pengetahuan, berketrampilan, berakhlak mulia, bertanggungjawab dan berkeupayaan mencapai kesejahteraan diri serta memberi sumbangan terhadap keharmonian dan kemakmuran masyarakat dan negara.”

• 1993 - Kurikulum Baru Sekolah Rendah Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Rendah.

• 1994 – “Alam Dan Manusia” Sains & Kajian Tempatan.

• The syllabus for primary school aims to equip learners with basic skills and knowledge of the subjects so as to enable them to communicate, both orally and in writing, in and out of school.
