UI designer for CheckFree's flagship bill payment product that won "Best of Class" (Internet World)

in the Spring of 2001. Designed and implemented several best practice and continuous improvement UCD initiatives that reduced the usability

testing completion time from 6 to 4 weeks. Designed and implemented a workstation program for customer care to reduce the risk of repetition stress injuries. Design touchtone and speech recognition based bill payment and self-service applications. Mentor interns and contractors.

Team Lead, Human Factors Engineer - Human Factors Engineering GroupManaged a team of 4 human factors engineers, conducted resource and project planning. Design and conduct usability tests for product development teams. Design end-to-end experiences for a variety of retail and transportation products. Received invention disclosure and US Patent awards (1996, 1997) for a self-service retail product currently in production

which is estimated to reduce labor costs by 20% while increasing customer throughput. Redesigned the customer check-in process for Delta Air Lines gate agents allowing for an estimated time savings of 25%. Developed a Universal Product Code (bar-code) quality assessment program for the Uniform Code Council allowing retailers

to monitor and measure the quality of UPC bar-codes affecting customer throughput. Designed an improved checkstand for the Walgreen’s corporation to reduce checkout time.

BATTELLE MEMORIAL INSTITUTE, Columbus, Ohio November 1992 - December 1994

Research Scientist - Transportation GroupResponsible for supporting US Department of Transportation sponsored research. Created usability guidelines of GPS navigation systems for the FAA. Design a human factors and operations checklist for FAA certification of GPS navigation systems. Interview European high-speed rail transportation officials and conduct field observations to determine the human

factors issues surrounding grade crossing safety. Perform analytical studies to determine the perceptual issues surrounding reduced visibility crashes. Perform analytical studies to evaluate fitness-for-duty products.

AIRBORNE EXPRESS INC., Dayton, Ohio July – October 1989

ConsultantPerform literature review on the effects for circadian rhythms on overnight aircrew performance.

Results were instrumental in obtaining an FAA waiver allowing aircrews to potentially achieve more restful work/sleep cycles.

Research Assistant Conduct, and analyze neurological performance test battery to enhance FAA mental proficiency exams. Conduct neurological performance test battery for the development of fitness-for-duty testing product.
