In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
-Locations
We had a variety of locations for our filming, all based in central Cambridge. Therefore the settings may be easily recognised to the viewer. We tried to incorporate a variety of locations and also considered the following, backdrop, scenery etc. into consideration. The screen grabs represent different cultures of Cambridge living, e.g. the ‘urban’ aspect where we filmed against a brick wall. ‘sophisticated’ element which we filmed along the river bank & finally the ‘street classy’ which was taken between two major shopping malls.I referenced Rita Ora’s ‘Shine Ya Light’ which is the same genre to ours. As in her music video, similar locations have been used alike to ours. For example, the ‘streets’ of Pristina which mirror the ‘urban’ culture of Cambridge. The highway in Pristina isn't necessarily similar locations but the star personas of both videos have a similar stance, their in the centre of the frame with things in the background…

Split screen
Editing consisted of 3 main techniques,
Overlaying - this consist of two images on-top of one another to create a thick/fuller effect. In reference to Beyonce’s video ‘Why Don’t You Love Me’ the stars are overlaying onto the footage of Beyonce.
Fading - this process looks similar to the previous technique however its unique in that the two images are on-top of one another for merely 0.05 seconds to show the transition of one scene to the other. E.g. Beyonce video ‘1+1’ clearly shows two images fading into one other simultaneously.
Split screen - consists of the same image or several different ones. The screen grab show our footage of the same image however we did use different images for split screen like Beyonce has done in her ‘Countdown’ video, we see three different images.

Eventually become an ‘item’
A typical music video such as Rihanna ft Drake – ‘What’s My Name?’ would usually have a narrative, allowing the audience to relive each step the star persona has made. In this case Rihanna walks to her local supermarket, she happens to meet a guy (Drake) they get along really well and eventually become an ‘item’.
Our music video wanted to challenge the typical conventions of narrative. We did so, by filming several shots of our star in different locations therefore creating a different narrative each time the location changes. We wanted the no continuity in our film to see weather it would still work as a whole.

Selling the artist consists of many things, one includes ‘costume’ changes. We had several costumes for our star persona ranging from trench coats to maxi dress’s. This showed a variety yet it still went with the location, scenery and weather etc. I referenced Taylor Swifts music video ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ we she has multiple costume changes, once again it’s a variety from her in Pj’s to wearing a floral dress.
