HOME CHANNEL REMINDEROverview

Problem: Radio users missing calls when their radios are set to the wrong channel.

Solution: Home Channel Reminder (HCR)

• User’s primary working channel can be set as Home channel• Reminder tone or voice announcement will be played, if the user moves to a

different channel and doesn’t return within a set period of time

• User can designate a new Home Channel via radio Menu or Button press

• A programmable button can be used to Mute the Home Channel Reminder

Roaming RSSI per site in IPSC & LCP

• Helps reduce audio holes or missed calls due to frequent roaming between sites

• If the current RSSI is higher than the CPS configured roaming RSSI threshold, the radio will not roam.

• When roaming, the radio will use the relative RSSI value = current RSSI – CPS configured roaming RSSI value to decide which site to roam to.

• Some test trials may be needed to find the optimum roaming RSSI values for each site

Problem: In urban areas and hilly terrains - different antenna sites have different coverage. Using one Roaming RSSI level for an entire IPSC or LCP system, makes radios roam too early or stay on a site too long.

Solution: Let Roaming RSSI levels be set individually for each siteXPR 6300

Changes to RSSI IndicationMore realistic signal strength indication is based on user experience.

1. Redefined threshold value for RSSI – poor, acceptable, good, very good, and excellent.2. Combined “Extreme Poor” and “Poor” level3. No longer uses the RSSI red X icon to indicate signal strength

Emergency Search Tone

Emergency Search Tone - loud attention-grabbing alert tone to enable people in the vicinity to locate the person in distress. Ideal for use in conjunction with Man Down.

• This tone is enabled for emergency transmitting radios only

• This tone starts when the radio enters emergency mode and stops when the radio exits the emergency mode

• This tone will be temporarily suspended when transmitting or receiving a voice transmission

Emergency on Non-Display radios

Emergency Call Indication - Red LED flashes while the radio is receiving an emergency call

Emergency Call Decode Tone - additional audible emergency call indication

• Repetitive 2 fast tones that alternate with the voice transmission

• Previously when a radio receives an emergency call, the users may not notice that it’s an emergency call on plain radios or when the radio display is inaccessible

• Now the screen will show Emergency mode, the Red LED will flash and 2 alternating Tones will be hard throughout the emergency call

2 Emergency w/Voice to Follow• Previously: Emergency initiator

could not key up during the RX Cycle Time of Emergency w/Voice to Follow

• Now: Emergency initiator will be able to press PTT and transmit during the RX Cycle Time of Emergency w/Voice to Follow

• The radio will return to the receive mode once the user releases the PTT button

• No CPS configuration required

Trill Enhancement

Radio industry standard AMBE2 vocoder algorithm does not reproduce well the Trill (rolling “r”) sound in Latin languages (e.g. Spanish, Italian) and transforms it into a flattened “r” which has been described by some as “drunk speech”.

Trill Enhancement is now available for SL300:

• Additional audio processing is applied in the transmitting radio to enhance the sharpness of the rolling “r” so speech is clearer and more intelligible

• Languages which do not include the Alveolar Trill will receive minimal benefit from this feature

• To enable:

i. CPS: General Settings > Audio Profile

ii. On/Off assigned to programmable button

Rest Channel Time-Out-Timer RDAC Alarm

Released in November 2014Rest Channel Time-Out-Timer (Adaptive Rest Channel Rotation) controls how long a repeater keeps its Rest Channel role in the absence of a new call activity before moving the role to another repeater in multi channel Capacity Plus and LCP System. • During normal system operation:

Rest Channel will move before the Rest Channel TOT expires • During a low call traffic hours:

Rest Channel TOT will expire more often and move the Rest Channel

NEW for June 2015Forced Rest Failure alarm is sent RDAC – if a specific channel rotates due to forced rotation while the other channels of the system are rotating due to call activity

If the repeater receives a call after the failure is reported, the alarm Status will change to Released in the Alarm Log, but the alarm has to be manually cleared in RDAC
