The Charleston Police Department, an NDI Recognition Systems customer, used automaticlicense plate recognition (ALPR) technology to recover a stolen car.

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) June 14, 2013 -- A Charleston police officer used an ALPR system from NDIRecognition Systems to recover a stolen car last Sunday, according to a Charleston City Paper article postedJune 14. The vehicle had been reported stolen by Hertz Rental Car in West Columbia, SC, after a customernamed Courtney Michelle Thomas failed to return the vehicle on April 9.

According to the City Paper, the officer spotted the car on Interstate 526 with the help of an NDI license platereader. The ALPR system informed the officer that there was a possible arrest warrant associated with thevehicle, and the officer pulled the vehicle over and arrested the driver on a charge of possession of a stolenvehicle.
