Screen grabs of my school magazine front cover

This presentation will be a step by step view of how I designed the front cover for my school magazine.

I used Photoshop in order to create my front cover. I first started off with this image of a year 8 pupil in my school. I decided that my colour theme would be purples as it matches with the uniform that this girl is wearing. Because purple is the representative colour of Weatherhead it gave me even more reason to use it on my school magazine. I chose to use this font for my masthead as I believe it looks more professional and gives off a sense of elegance.

I than added a cover line for our main article. ‘The school welcomes new year 7’s’. I used this cover line as it shows the audience that we will be mentioning the transitioning from year 6 to year 7. I also chose to write the cover line in purple in order to go with my colour theme and the cover line is also the same colour as the masthead to tie them both together.

I decided to add this cover line as well in order to also show the audience what other main stories will be featured in the magazine. I have used a slightly lighter purple colour in order for it to stand out against her dark uniform.

The next cover line ‘Exam Results’ I have made it a dark purple as it stands out against her background and I have included a black outline.

This is the last thing I added on my front cover. I added one more cover line as I thought it was important to keep giving the audience information about what will be in the magazine. I also kept to my colour scheme on this cover line.
