How to Set up Outlook with Exchange Online?
How to manually setup Outlook with
Exchange Online?
Here are some occasions where you may have to manually setup Outlook
with Exchange Online Perhaps your DNS provider doesn't allow you to add
the auto discover CNAME record or you don't have access to the end user's
DNS, then you may need to configure Outlook manually.
There is a caveat and a reason it's so hard to find documentation on this
procedure.
It's because Microsoft doesn't consider a manual configuration of Outlook a
best practice. The reason is that the server a user's mailbox is stored on may
change.
Since you set the server manually/statically, then Outlook could possibly
quit sending/receiving email if the user's mailbox is moved to a different
server.
Here is the best and most painless procedure:
Follow Some points!!!!
First..!
“Find out what the user's @xxxxxx.onmicrosoft.com email address is, for example [email protected]. You will be using a combination of this email address and
the user's password to setup Outlook, not the user's [email protected] email address.”
Second..!
“Add a new email account to Outlook or launch the initial setup.”
Third..!
“In the "Your Name" field, type the name you want to be seen when someone receives a message from you.”
Forth..!
“In the "E-mail Address" field, type your [email protected] email address.”
Fifth..!
“In the "Password" and "Retype Password" fields, type the user's respective password for Exchange Online.”
Sixth..!
“Using the *.onmicrosoft.com domain, Outlook will auto discover your server name and configure all the correct settings
for your [email protected] email address. This will save you from the elusive process of finding your server name using auto
discover tools or chasing your tail with other deprecated methods described in various KB articles. ”
