About This Guide
Purpose of This Guide This guide provides all the information you need for installing SlideShare Ribbon for
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.
Who Should Read This Guide This guide is intended for the users who need to install the SlideShare Ribbon for
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.

Introduction
Overview This Add-in enables a seamless and contextual experience to access commonly used
SlideShare (http://www.slideshare.net) services from within Microsoft PowerPoint
2007. You can do the following by using the actions surfaced in the PowerPoint
Ribbon:
Open and view your presentations that are hosted on SlideShare
Upload new presentations to SlideShare
Manage your presentations by updating their metadata on SlideShare
Browse & open presentations related to a presentation being viewed
Search for and open/view presentations published on SlideShare by your
contacts, groups, and other SlideShare users
See statistics on how your slideshows are viewed and used
System Requirements SlideShare Ribbon for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 is designed to run on
the following operating systems:
Windows XP SP2
Windows Vista RTM (all editions)
Windows Vista SP1 (all editions)
Before you can install the add-in, the following software must be installed:
Microsoft Office 2007 (http://office.microsoft.com), which is the most recent
Windows version of the Microsoft Office system.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
(http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=118076), which is a full cumulative
update that contains many new features building incrementally upon .NET
Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, and includes cumulative servicing updates to the
.NET Framework 2.0 and .NET Framework 3.0 subcomponents

This section provides information on the installation of SlideShare Ribbon for
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 setup.
To install SlideShare Ribbon for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007,
1. Launch the setup from SlideShare Setup site
(http://downloads.slideshare.net/msft/1/setup.exe). When asked to Run or
Save the application, choose Run. This will initiate the download of setup file
from SlideShare server.

2. You will see the Publisher certificate as shown in Figures 3a, 3b & 3c.

3. Click Run in each case. This should initiate the install process as shown in
Figures 4 & 5.

4. The setup will install the missing pre-requisites. Visual Studio Tools for the
Office (VSTO) system Runtime Service Pack 1 will be the first pre-requisite
that gets installed (if not present already on your machine). The End User
License Agreement (EULA) for installing VSTO SP1 will be displayed as shown
in Figure 6.

5. If you accept the EULA, the setup will proceed with the download of the
required files as shown in Figures 7 & 8.

6. Once the required files are downloaded, the installation of VSTO SP1 will
commence as indicated in Figures 9 & 10. If you are using Windows Vista
(any edition), you may get additional security dialogs as indicated in Figures
11 & 12. Click Continue on each to proceed.

7. The Windows Installer will be installed (if not present on your machine) as
shown in Figures 13a, 13b, 13c, 13d & 13e.

8. Post the successful installation of the missing pre-requisites, the SlideShare
Ribbon for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 will install. Click Next when
you view the screen shown in Figure 14a. It will show the EULA (End User
License Agreement) as shown in Figure 14b. Click I agree and proceed.

9. A confirmation window will appear as shown in Figure 15. Click Next to start
the installation.

10. The Add-in will begin installing the necessary files. If you are using Windows
Vista (any edition), you may be prompted to trust the add-in as shown in
Figure 17. Click Allow to trust the add-in and proceed with the install.

11. Once the installation is complete, the “success” message will appear as
indicated in Figure 18.

12. To verify that the installation has been successfully installed, open
PowerPoint 2007. You should see “SlideShare” as a Menu option in the Office
2007 Ribbon. Once you click the “SlideShare” menu, the “SlideShare
Ribbon for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007” custom ribbon buttons will
appear as shown in Figure 19.

13. The Add-in when installed is pre-configured with a demo SlideShare account
that enables you to get started with exploring the Add-in's capabilities. This
account is only meant for testing purposes. Click on the Service Accounts
button in the PowerPoint 2007 ribbon. This should show you the pre-
configured demo SlideShare Account.

14. Click Cancel and then Click “Open Presentation” button. This will open the
presentations for the demo account user as shown in Figures 21 and 22.

15. Select a presentation and Click “Open”. The download of that presentation
from SlideShare will commence as shown in Figure 23.

16. After the presentation is downloaded, it will be shown as indicated in Figure
24.

Known Issues
If your system does not have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
(http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=118076) installed and you try
installing SlideShare Ribbon for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, you
will encounter the following error window as shown in Figure 25.

(http://office.microsoft.com) installed and you try installing SlideShare
Ribbon for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, you will encounter the
