The Prefect Server is the primary service of Praetorian Guard. Its main purpose is to deal with the licensing of the product and to manage its assigned Tribunes. Every environment must have at least one Prefect Server. Depending on

your company structure, mulple Prefects can be installed on your network each connected to a completely separate database or database server.

The second system level is the Tribune Server. You must have at least one Tribune Server installed on your network but can have an unlimited number of Tribune Servers for a given Prefect Server. The Tribune Server acts as a data

collector on the network and ensures that all of the sub-level Centurions are performing the tasks as assigned. Tribune Servers also connect to the SQL Server and insert data into it.

The Centurion Services are the workforce of the product. They must be installed on every PC or server for which Praetorian Guard will be performing some task. The purpose of the Centurion Service is to collect data and assist in

managing devices on your network. Centurions communicate only with their parent Tribune Server and do not have access to the SQL Server.
