11Tiered Storage Solution
Focus: deliver several tiers of storage solutions to campus.
• Researchers, staff, and units have varying storage needs.
• Seeking cost-effective solutions with appropriate performance levels.
Benefit: Units can re-focus their efforts on supporting other research and learning needs.
12Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
Focus: expand for campus in the next year
• Completed significant expansion of Virtual Sites service, which allows Windows users access to specialized software on an as-needed basis, and it gives Macintosh users a way to use Windows software from their Macintosh computer.
Benefit: Allows more units to take advantage of the new service and reduces purchasing of specialized software.
13Windows Consolidation
Focus: shut down B&F windows environment
• Business and Finance will move to the “campus forest”
Benefit: Enables easier collaboration with colleagues across campus, including file and calendar sharing
