*Keeping your business connected

*Wireless WAN (WWAN) Connectivity from AT&T can keep your business connected, get your business connected quickly, and enable data transmission and transaction processing from almost anywhere business takes you. Much more than just backup, WWAN is ideal for primary connectivity for lower bandwidth applications in situations where wired networks are unavailable or infeasible.

“Although temporary and backup scenarios will likely dominate demand for 3G wireless between fixed locations, it can only enhance AT&T’s WWAN proposition. Cellular transport not only provides an attractive option for temporary and ad hoc connectivity; it also serves to add redundancy if dedicated lines and DSL connections come in to the building via the same route and may both be subject to simultaneous outages.” CTIA Wireless 2007: AT&T and Cisco Launch 3G WWAN Module for ISR Routers, March 29 ,2007

* Speeds to Support WWAN Applications

EDGE • Largest high-speed wireless

data network in the U.S. supporting lower-bandwidth backup and primary applications e.g.

- Telemetry (meters, SCADA, etc.)

- Transactional (ATM’s, credit cards, registers)

- Internet/Intranet access w/VPN

- Email

HSDPA • 3G Speeds support higher-

speed backup and primary applications e.g.

- ATM’s with IP protocols - Citrix - Inventory Mgt Systems - Mobile/Temp workgroups - Rich video downloads* - File downloads - Email with heavy attachments

HSUPA • 3G Speeds support higher

upload requirements for backup and primary applications e.g.

- Rich video upload* - File uploads

EDGE HSDPA HSPA**

Typical Download Throughput (kbps)*** 70-135 600-1400 600-1400

Typical Upload Throughput (kbps)*** 60-80 220-320 500-800

Typical Latency (ms) 350-450 100-200 80-200

* Video streaming is not permitted under the terms and conditions of standard Data Connect plans. **HSPA refers to markets with HSDPA and HSUPA deployed. Referenced speeds require an HSDPA 3.6Mbps / HSUPA capable device with Receive Diversity and/or Equalizer. AT&T is deploying HSUPA throughout the 3G footprint, HSUPA may not currently be available in all 3G areas. **3G speed claims based on our network tests without compression using 3MB data files. 3G devices not enabled with HSUPA support typical upload speeds of 220-320kbps based on our network tests without compression using 500KB data files for upload. Actual throughput speed varies.

Presentation Notes
Key Talking Points: AT&T has the network to support WWAN connectivity. The AT&T network is comprised of EDGE and 3G coverage providing AT&T customers with the nations largest high-speed data footprint. EDGE speeds effectively support lower-bandwidth telemetry applications and provides an alternative to ISDN for backup applications 3G – HSDPA provides higher uplink and downlink speeds than EDGE and is able to support more bandwidth intensive backup applications 3G – HSUPA provides higher uplink speeds than HSDPA which is important in the WWAN space since this increases the speeds of traffic sent from a remote site to the host. The speeds listed here are actual network average speeds for EDGE and HSDPA. The HSUPA metrics are estimates until more data can be collected. Please note that T1 and below connections are generally targeted for backup applications. Customers may see information on theoretical maximum speeds associated with 3G and be lead to believe that they can use Cellular connectivity as a T1 replacement or to backup DS3 host sites. Because of this, it is important to discuss actual network average speeds with customers to properly set expectations.

Presentation Notes
AT&T Mobility’s Commercial Connectivity Service enables a wireless extension of an enterprise’s private network.  The solution provides secure, reliable, standards based connectivity between the customer’s LAN/WAN and their fixed/mobile cellular devices by aggregating cellular data traffic destined for a customer data center on a single network-based connection (FR or IPSec).  Security components include: Network enabled encryption (128 bit on 3G/ 64 bit EDGE) Traffic segregation (via custom APN) Secure connectivity from Mobility network to customer premise (via standards based FR or IPSec) Other CCS options include: Customizable IP addressing (Mobility or customer provided Public/Private and Static/Dynamic) Firewall/access control Mobility data center redundancy Bundled FR or ‘PVC only’ solution (leverages AT&T wholesale) Connectivity to other FR/dedicated IP service providers (for non-AT&T WAN customers)
