Guest Remarks:

I have known the directors of Friends Adventure Team for more than 10 years. So far I have done 59 treks & expeditions with them. During these treks & expeditions besides usual routes I have also explored many new trekking routes. I often made ascents of peaks of 5500m to 6654m, discovered new canyons, explored caves in the limestone rocks and large Himalayan glaciers of Nepal. I have advised many people to come to Nepal; over 250 came and used Friends Adventure Team. All these tourists have enjoyed their trips & appreciated a professionalism of manager, climbing guides, trekking guides, canyoning guides, cooks and porters. Friends Adventure Team is one of the trekking agencies that looks after porters with extra care they are properly paid, they are given full set of clothes for high altitude trek & even insured.I highly recommend this trekking agency led by young, energetic & friendly people

While in Nepal, Friends Adventure My group - 10 university of Redlands, CA- USA students and 3 instructors - had a great experience with F.A.T. from the very first email we received which made planning stress-free knowing we could trust every bit of information we received. While in Nepal, Friends Adventure Team remained flexible and professional, providing an outstanding one-month adventure and cultural experience in Nepal. My entire group of 13 people came away from our trip with not only a wonderful, unique experience but the feeling that we have great friends back in Nepal. We originally planned a trekking trip with Friends Adventure Team (FAT) and, despite unexpected circumstances, we had a great trip. Rajendra (the owner of FAT) was waiting for us in Kathmandu, and he took us to our hotel. He suggested places to visit in the city, and checked if we had the necessary gear.

After an amazing flight to Lukla, we began our trek. Our guide and porter were excellent, and we had some very nice hiking days. In Gokyo, I got sick (pneumonia and pulmonar oedema) and had to be evacuated. Rajendra was on top of things, and he managed to get a helicopter to take me to Kathmandu.....

Rajendra did everything in his power to help us and he was flexible with rearrenging our plans. Even during a medical emergency, Rajendra was extremely helpful to take me to Kathmand˙.

I joined “Chulo Far East Expedition” with Friends Adventure Team in April, 2011. I enjoyed the tour very much. Our guide could tell us so much about nepali people, their kind of living, culture, nature and, of course, he was an expert in mountaineering. Thank you very much.

I recently travelled in Nepal with The Friends Adventure Team and had a wonderful experience. My daughter and I were pleased with the friendly and expert attention we received. The airport transfers, hotels, restaurants, and tourist activities were extremely enjoyable. The trek to Everest Base Camp was the highlight of our trip and our guide and porter were fabulous. We were treated like family. I would highly recommend Friends Adventure Team to anyone from around the world who wants a first class outdoor adventure. Jane, Utah, USA

In December 2010 I was on a trip to Nepal, I was also interested to do the canyoning and had a chance to join a group where four of us and with Rajendra and his crew we went to Bhote koshi. We had very good days in climbing down the different canyons. For me it was an experience of a special kind.

A great hospitality in a family environment made me feel so well. All the guides three of them were taking good care of us for our security on the wall, which is why I had a safety feeling. We had good facilities; the kitchen served us high standard menu. Thank you for everything.I would suggest “Friends Adventure Team” and join them when you have time!

I went to Nepal to help with rebuilding after the earthquakes and was suprised at the helpfulness of Rajendra and his team. Indeed they became good friends and so helpful beyond what might be expected. Rajendra is connected and is able to set up just about anything you may want to do while in Nepal, be it treking/climbing/caynoneering or helping with some of the many projects the Rajendra is involved in. Even with the fuel shortage Rajendra was able to make transportation arrangements to anywhere I needed to go. From being picked up at the airport to making sure of housing and having meals together, Friends Adventure Team stand out as a amazing group of folks that really care.

They will assist in accommodations and all arrangements for your time in Nepal, you are in great hands with Friends of Adventure Team. Namaste, Richard

I can not fault Rajendra and his brother Dabendra (Deb) who assisted me with all my accommodations, food whilst on the trail, trekking and climbing needs. Both are extremely knowledgeable in the areas of my travel.

Thank you Friends Adventure Team for all your help and assistance. You will not find a better trekking company and you won’t regret it if you go with these guys. Namaste.

Trekking in the Himalayas

Nepal is a trekker’s paradise with a myriad of exciting trails to the highest peaks on the planet, with unrivalled scenery and culture along the way. However brief, trekking is a good introduction to the natural rhythm of life in the mountains. You travel at your own pace along trails that link settlements, many on ancient trade routes with Tibet. We lead you through dense forests of rhododendron filled with flora and fauna, up to high mountain pastures surrounded by towering peaks. Other places are graced with exotic temples and magical monasteries. Diverse ethnicities along the routes give a fascinating insight into traditional rural lifestyles. The immense contrasts in altitudes and climates provide a wealth of physical conditions. The cultural heritage and wildlife biodiversity are second to none.

If you are reasonably physically fit, Nepal’s trails will be a pleasure. No prior skills are required for trekking, simply an enjoyment of hiking. Possibilities range from short and easy to rigorous and demanding – there is something for every desire. We offer a wide variety of different treks to suit both first-timers and experienced trekkers. Whether you have only a few days or many months to spend in the Himalaya, we have an itinerary available for you.

Generally, a day of trekking involves an average of 5 hours hiking with breaks as needed, covering about 9 to 14 kilometers. There is usually ample time for photography and personal interests. Routes pass through forests, valleys, meadows, fields, idyllic hamlets and over high passes. Nearly all offer the magnificent Himalaya as a backdrop, with snow-fed rivers, lakes and glaciers. Trekkers stay in simple lodges, homes of local people (homestay) or camp for the night. We offer many options, from newly opened routes to classic trails, depending on your desired style and destination.

Trek Grading

Easy

This is a pleasant and easy walk, usually 4-5 hrs walking daily at elevations below 3500m.

Moderate

Relatively low altitude and moderate level trek, crossing passes of not more than 4500m and usually 5-6 hrs walking daily.

Strenuous

For this type of trek a high level of fitness is required, usually 6-7 hours daily walking including high passes between 4500 to 5700m.

Annapurna means “The Goddess of Abundance” lies in mid- hill region of Nepal. The broadest pass, Thorong-la 5416mt, the deepest gorge in the world, Dana, and the biggest rhododendron forest in the world are other attractions of the region.

Mardi Himal Trek

The most triangular shaped ridge with lower slope of Mt. Machhapuchre (Fishtail), the mountain possesses two peaks thus it is named in English means ‘Fish Tail’. It is clearly seen from Phewa Lake at Pokhara. It is situated to the most southerly high point of Mt. Annapurna massif; around these there is other majestic grouping of mountains in the central Himalayan that includes 5 of the 12 highest mountains in the world.

Descending first through the forest a different route takes us down to the upper Mardi Khola. The torrent that has been coming from Mardi Himal is still away from the use of trekking routes. Special TrekUpper Mustang

Until recently the Upper Mustang was one of the most isolated and unexplored corners of the Trans-Himalayan region. Foreign trekkers were first allowed to visit in 1992. Since its opening this region has become a very special destination for trekkers, despite the expensive permit fees compared to other regions. Once Upper Mustang used to be a separate kingdom and still it looks like a kingdom of a different kind, not only because of its topographic uniqueness but also because of its untouched Tibetan culture, people and their traditions. New lodges have made this trek more comfortable these days.

On the Upper Mustang Trek you can explore many places and strange mysterious cave monasteries that are unique to the region. Some places are very ancient and have centuries of history to discover: places like the 2500-year-old Samdzong and Chosar villages or the walled capital city of Lo Manthang. Other ancient monasteries and castles of the 14th century are on the trails, like Luri, Yara and Konchok Ling. Fossils, which are believed to be older than the mountains, probably 3 billion years old, have been found. Colourful and unique rock formations along with canyons carved by the rivers are some of the most eye-catching sights of this region; the rock formations look like a genuine piece of artwork carved by a famous artist. Finally we can witness the lively day-to-day activities of the local people and their festivals.Upper Mustang Trek

Upper Dolpo TrekThe Upper Dolpo Trek to Shey Gompa brings you into a mystical land where centuries-old Buddhist and Bonpo traditions, interwoven with shamanistic influences, are still an important part of daily life. The villages, gompas and people you meet during this trek will leave an unforgettable impression on you. The landscapes here are even more desolate and the villages even more isolated and pure. Camping is still necessary for this adventure.

Dolpo is the most remote and least-developed district in Nepal. Although a few anthropologists and geographers had explored the region, the entire district was closed to trekkers until 1989, when the southern part of Dolpo was opened to organised trekking groups. Peter Matthiessen’s book The Snow Leopard and David Snellgrove’s Himalayan Pilgrimage have contributed to the mystique and attraction of Dolpo.

The Upper Dolpo Trek route passes many gigantic mountain ranges: Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Kanjiroba, to name but a few. It also passes through Lower Dolpo, at one time a small kingdom in its own right. The main highlight is Shey Gompa, but lesser-known places include Saldang and Dho Tarap. Trekkers in this region enthuse about the wild remoteness, the stunning mountain scenery and the fact that the local people still have that innocent friendliness peculiar to people who live in excessively remote mountainous regions.

Naar Phu trek

Naar Phu Trekking is one of the best trek of Annapurna region and for those who want to explore hidden valley and trek off-the beaten path, crossing over the challenging high pass Kangla 5306m from where a magnificent panorama view of Annapurna & Manaslu massif is quite rewarding. There are two principal villages Naar 4110m & Phu 4080 m. the total inhabitants are about 300 persons who depend on farming & yak herding and follow Buddhism as a religion. It is the main gateway for climbing expeditions to Kanguru Himal, Him lung, Ratnachuli and other peaks.

Naar Phu Trekking leads to a hidden valley, where the people depend on livestock. Meaning of Nar-Phu is above the tree line, or the upper limits of cultivation, it is in the very north of Manang district. It takes five hours getting to the pass that links Nar with Manang and three other Bhotia villages in the Nyershang down valley.

Apart from the odd researcher and climbing expeditions permitted to climb Himlung, Ratnachuli and Gachikang, few foreigners have visited the area and tourism infrastructure is almost non-existent. Since Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) recently extended its network and has included Nar and Phu Valley, it is preparing a suitable tourism development plan at the request of the government for undiscovered valley.

Manaslu Circuit Trek

The Manaslu Circuit Trek has recently increased in popularity among trekkers. The trail is along the valley of the Budi Gandaki River all the way up to the Larkya La pass (5160m). The first 4–5 days follow the narrow valley up via Machha Khola, Jagat, Ghap, Namrung and Lho. Samagaon, the biggest village, is one of the highlights of the trek; people here follow Buddhism. The major peaks are Manaslu, Himalchuli, Ngadi Chuli (Peak 29), Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal and Sonam Samdo.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is located in the historical Gorkha district of Nepal; sightings of high mountains, can-yons, wild ponies and ethnic villages are common. Some even call it the best all-round trek in Nepal. The Manaslu Circuit trek is certainly a great alternative to the Annapurna Circuit trek. Trekking here uses lodges more often now, making the camping choice a less popular option.

Tsum Valley Trek

The Tsum Valley Trek is one of the most remote areas, located in the northern part of Gorkha district bordering Tibet. Tsum comes from the Tibetan word “Tsombo” which means vivid. Ganesh and Tewa Himal are in the east, with Shringi Himal in the west. On a clear day Baudha Himal and Himalchuli are visible in the southwest. The Tsum Valley is inhabited by Gurung & Tamang people who follow Buddhism as a religion. Animal husbandry and agriculture are the main profession.

The Tsum Valley Trek hosts many ancient gompas, caves and some of the biggest nunneries – Rachen Gompa, Dhephudonma Gompa and Gompa Lungdang – in Nepal. After Chokang Paro (Chhekamparo) village, the Tsum Valley is quite wide and flat with lot of farms. Piren-phu cave is considered very holy in this region, with a very interesting legend related to it. The famous Tibetan saint and scholar, Milarepa, once mediated in the cave and during his meditation seven white pigeons used to deliver food and drink to him. Later the cave became quite famous as a Piren-phu, literally ‘pigeon cave’.

Everyday, in the evening time the site becomes quite lively because hundreds of devotees walk around the stupa and some of them holding prayer wheels or counting prayer beads and even some doing prostration.

Patan Durbar Square

It is located 5km southeast of Kathmandu city across the Bagmati River. Shamanism Tour

“Shaman” means a generalized or undifferentiated religious practitioner, one who combines general contact with the supernatural realm and application of this contact, particularly in curing & healing patients, driving away evil spirits, and appealing for wealth, health & happiness.

Before the time of Hinduism or Buddhism, Shamanism was followed in diverse ways throughout the world. In summary, shamans were the world’s first healers, therapists, and mystics, who, over tens of thousands of years, developed a family of diagnostic, ritual, medicinal, pharmacological, and psychotherapeutic techniques, although some of which were merely superstitious.

Shamanism in Nepal - As a healer, a shaman may examine a wide variety of phenomena, such as the heart beat, seeds of rice, and the entrails of animals for signs. They gather medicinal plants from the forest, perform sacrifices, exorcize demonic spirits, and chant magical incantations to invoke helper deities, and may conduct any number of other rituals.

Nepal is home to many ethnic groups (about 101). And most of the tribes have shamans. As a result there are thousands of shamans and they are as important as doctors to Nepalese society. That is why Nepal is undoubtedly one of the most famous destinations for shaman tours in the worldShamanism Tour in Timal - Kallery

Honey HuntingNepal is a mountainous country and due to its altitudinal variation there is a huge diversity of various plants and herbs which is a paradise for hardworking bees. They collect the nectar and juice from flowers of different plants and make one of the most delicious and highly medicinal, natural honey in the cliffs of Himalayas. In some of the Nepali stories, honey is often referred to as “the milk of birds” though that doesn’t give a proper literal meaning. But it has ritual value because it is one of the 5 nectars offered to the gods. The honey hunting trip has been ever popular amongst tourists since the documentary “Honey Hunter” came to light.

This trip is not just only a honey hunting trip but it is combined with other interesting programs like a short trek, exploring local culture and traditions and moreover observing day to day activities of local people, and interacting with them, tasting homemade local cuisine with Nepali families and in the meantime enjoying the magnificent landscape and snowcapped mountain ranges.

Adventure Canyoning

Adventure Canyoning in unexplored waterfalls, canyons, gorges and wild rivers in the Himalaya of Nepal is an extremely adventurous sports. We offer Canyoning packages that give you an adventure of a lifetime. As true adventure seekers have discovered, the most thrilling place you could swim begins at the very edge of a 45m waterfall. After the first descent, abseil another 25m down a steep canyon, then through wild rock formations and powerful blasts of water. At the end of the excursion, we make one last jump and submerge ourselves into a refreshing pool. Once back on solid ground, we relax on a beach beneath canyon walls and swim out between narrow boulders.

From sheer cliffs and slides to pounding waterfalls, you will experience all the joys of canyoning. Despite the fun and games, this sport requires the guidance of an expert. Our instructors (Guides) are experienced canyoneers and believe that the practice of safe canyoning necessitates proper gear, continual vigilance and supreme knowledge of the aquatic environment.

Nepal is one of the best destinations worldwide for white water rafting. Bulging, Himalayan fed rivers crash down through the foothills on their way to the plains. FAT offers a wide range of safe and fun challenges depending on your thrill seeking desires. The wet and wild action is followed by relaxation on serene beaches for meal breaks and overnight camping.

Rafting is one of the major tourism products of Nepal. There are three major river systems with more than 250 sizeable tributaries. Since all the principal rivers originate from Himalaya, and some even from the Tibetan plateau, rivers will have enough water flow and pass through deep gorges, valleys and plains that provide both challenging rapids as well as gentle flows. There are plenty of options to choose from as per the grade & length of rivers; for instance we can arrange just a day rafting trip up to 10 days. The main rivers of Nepal for rafting are the Trishuli River, Bhote Koshi River, Marsyandi River, Seti River, Sunkoshi River, Karnali River, Arun River, and Kali Gandaki River.

For Hindus, rivers are very holy and cremation activities takes place at the confluence of rivers, All the rivers of Nepal make “The Ganga” the most holy river of India. As you paddle down the river along the way you can witness different flora and fauna, cremation sites, temples, ever changing landscapes, beautiful sand beaches, local fisherman, and people bathing and doing their laundry.

Trishuli River Rafting

The first two days are relatively easy and allow time to train you as a team before the bigger rapids arrive. The rapids have acquired manes like Meat Grinder, High Anxiety, Jaws and Big dipper, from previous experiences on expeditions. Say no more! The calmer stretches between rapids give you time to take in the phenomenal views, swim (voluntarily) in warm water and camp on the pristine white sandy beaches.

Bhote Koshi River Rafting

‘Bhote’ roughly translates, as ‘River from Tibet’; so there are quite a lot of Rivers with this name in Nepal. Bhote Kosi the main branch of the Sun Kosi is a beautiful mountain river starting through Tibet. No doubt, the river-rafting in Bhotekosi offers the full action packed up with short white-water run in Nepal. It takes three and half hours drive from Kathmandu to get to the starting point of Bhote-Koshi River’s Rafting.

The river drops steeply offering relentless stretches of grade III-IV white-water. Boulder gardens, small waterfalls, steep chutes and 90 degree bends are the obstacles to be overcome. This river is not a typical of the big volume waters of the Himalayan, it is steep and technical and requires a reactive crew.

Marsyandi River Rafting

The Marsyangdi River is one of the most outstanding grade IV Kayaking Rivers in the world. Continuous, exhilarating white-water with magnificent mountain backdrops, Marsyandi drains through the northern slope of the Annapurna Himal. It flows East through an arid valley around Manang and then swings south to join the Trisuli River at Mugling. Marsyangdi means ‘Raging River’ in local dialect.

It was opened to commercial rafting in 1996 and demands 100% commitment from both crew and guide. It is totally different from the big volume rivers like Sun Kosi and Karnali, the rapids are technical and require a very different approach. Need 100% power and a good line, fast reactions from crew to get through this pinball machine and quickly forges raft crews of complete strangers into true teams.

The Sunkoshi ‘River of gold’ has been rated as one of the top ten rafting trips in the world! It is also in the list of ‘Must do while in Nepal’. The river rises in Tibet, and flows Eastwards in Nepal through the great valley between the Mahabharat Lekh (hills) and the Himalaya. It forms the watershed for most eastern Nepal and gathering strength from tributaries draining the highest mountains in the world. It emerges onto the northern plains of India where it joins the Ganges. Our journey takes us 270 km through some of Nepal’s most remote area giving you a unique wilderness experience.

Synonymous to some of the most rewarding and stimulating wildlife activities, Chitwan National Park is located at the central Terai. The park is approximately 1,000 sq. km. of sub-tropical lowland jungle, five hours by road from Kathmandu or a 25 minute flight. It is home to a multitude of wild animals including the Royal Bengal tiger and the endangered one horn Rhinoceros native to Nepal of which there are less than 1,500 surviving. There have also been more than 420 species of birds recorded inside the park.

Most of our jungle itineraries include a stay at a lodge within the park of which there are only six. The accommodation is normally in double thatched cottage style rooms. A typical package is based on a two nights/ three days stay. Activities include elephant safaris, canoeing, bird watching and nature tours conducted by resident professional guides and naturalists.

A visit to Chitwan provides you with the opportunity to fully experience the contrasts of Nepal. It offers an insight into a very different natural and cultural setting compared to the more familiar visions of the Kingdom. Chitwan is appropriate even for tour with a varied Outline Day to Day Itinerary and can be easily combined with rafting and treks from the Annapurna region.

Climbing GradeListed peaks are graded using the Alpine Grade system. The overall seriousness of the complete route based on all factors of the final approach, ascent, and descent—including length, altitude, danger, commitment, and technical difficulty. This system originated with UIAA Roman numerals; it is now generally seen with French letters and is increasingly being used worldwide. Grades described below are for the ‘classic’ route ascent lines. Alternative routes will obviously be of a higher grade.

F: Facile/easy Rock scrambling or easy snow slopes; some glacier travel; often climbed ropeless except on glaciers.

PD: Peu Difficile/a little difficult. Routes may be longer at altitude, with snow and ice slopes up to 45 degrees. Glaciers are more complex, scrambling is harder, climbing may require some belaying, descent may involve rappelling. More objective hazards; Some technical climbing and complicated glaciers.

AD: assez difficile (fairly difficult). Fairly hard, snow and ice at an angle of 45-65 degrees, rock climbing up to UIAA grade III, but not sustained, belayed climbing in addition to a large amount of exposed but easier terrain. Significant objective hazard. Steep climbing or long snow/ice slopes above 50º; for experienced alpine climbers only.

Island Peak (6189m) Climbing

Island Peak is the most famous peak among the trekking peaks due to its location & relative ease to climb is situated in the Everest region. From the summit of Island peak Lhotse 8511m (4th highest mountain in the world), Makalu, Barunste, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cholaste, Lobuche peak and other peaks are visible in close range.

Island Peak (Imje Tse 6189 m) is one of the main climbing peaks of the Everest Area. The mountain was named “Island Peak” in 1952 due to its striking location in the middle of the Chhukung valley, like an Island on a sea of ice. It was renamed “Imje Tse” in the early ‘80s, though its original name is still more popular. Island Peak has an impressive, highly glaciated West Face that rises from the Lhotse Glacier.

In fact, the mountain extends from the South Ridge of Lhotse Shar and is separated only by a small col. above this gap which is the ridge leading to summit. From the Base Camp, you will have to ascend a steep, grassy slope with small rocky steps to High Camp. From here it is necessary to climb a steep, exposed snow and ice ramp to the summit ridge; fixed ropes will have to be used where necessary for a safe ascent to the top. This climb requires more technical expertise than other climbs, however we will make it easier for by providing you with a technically proficient Sherpa climbing guide who is known for his knowledge of scaling high mountain peaks.

The standard route from the north involves high altitude glacier walking. The ease of reaching this elevation may be its biggest danger but good weather and snow conditions are, of course, necessary for safety and success. The west and south faces of the peak offer more difficult technical routes.

Mera Peak is for experienced climbers it is a technically straightforward ascent, the main hurdle being proper ac-climatization to the high altitude. These reasons make Mera Peak a very popular destination, with many adventure tour companies offering guided trips to the mountain for clients with little or no mountaineering experience. All climbers are recommended to partake in preparative fitness and altitude training before attempting an ascent.

Tent Peak (5695m)

TTharpu Chuli or Tent Peak is one of the trekking peaks in the Nepali Himalaya range. The peak has a nice central position in the Annapurna range. It is easier to climb than both Tharpu-chuli and Singu Chuli which also are trekking peaks of the Annapurna. The ascent requires ice climbing equipment. A climbing permit from the NMA costs $350 USD for a team of up to four members.

Tharpu Chuli /Tent Peak is a very interesting climbing objective because of its short access trek through a stunningly beautiful valley to the heart of Annapurna range in the Annapurna Sanctuary. The climb presents awesome climbing aesthetics and it can be made challenging and relatively easy depending on the chosen route and it is absolutely perfect for people with limited time wishing to do a short and remarkable trek to Annapurna Sanctuary combined with an impressive climb.

Lobuche East

Lobuche (or Lobuje) is a small settlement near Mount Everest in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is one of the last overnight stops with lodging on the “trail to base camp”—a hike that climbers make on their way to Everest Base Camp (South) when attempting an ascent of Everest via the standard southeast route. It is also a popular stop among trekkers in the area. From there they can complete the trail on to EBC or stop at Gorak Shep, the last stop with lodging on the trail, and climb the modest nearby peak, Kala Patthar (5,545 m, 18,192 ft), for a rare view of the Everest summit. The structure of Everest is such that its actual summit is not visible from Base Camp.

Lobuche Peak, elevation of about 4,940 metres (16,210 ft), is situated about 150 kilometres (93 mi) east of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu and lies near the foot of the Khumbu Glacier, approximately 8.5 km SW of Everest Base Camp. It shares its name with several peaks in the area: Lobuche Far East, Lobuche East and Lobuche West (a separate mountain further west). Labuche Kang, which is sometimes spelled Lobuche Kang is not local but is in Tibet. Outline Outline Day to Day Itinerary:

Everest Expedition

Most mountaineers dream of reaching the summit of Mt. Everest during their lifetime. For many mountaineers a successful Everest expedition is the ultimate goal of climbing in the Nepal Himalaya. Everest expeditions via the South Col remain the most popular choice, as this route has the highest success rate.

The Everest expedition starts after trekking to Everest Base Camp. A short walk along the moraine leads to the Khumbu Icefall, with large crevasses, which are the main obstacles on Everest expeditions. Each year, experienced Sherpas fix this section with ropes and ladders which make it easier for climbers to reach Camp 1. Everest aspirants must ascend more gradually to reach Camp 2. From here climbing on mixed snow and ice leads the way up the Lhotse Face to Camp 3. From camp 3 the climbing is on moderate mixed snow and rock, which is not easy, to the South Col (Camp 4). The route steepens after ascending snow slopes to reach the crest of the South East Ridge. A steep climb leads to the South Summit followed by the traverse to the Hillary Step and the final ridge to the summit.

The route from Camp II to Camp III (7900m) normally consists of a series of rock and shingle steps and easier terrain. Camp III will be on rocky shelves. From Camp III the route traverses across a series of rock steps and snow slopes, then again on mixed rock and snow to Camp IV (8400m). Camp varies here according to the snow conditions. The summit day starts from here across mixed rock and snow steps, sometimes steeply, along the NE ridge and then finally to the summit via the Three Steps.

Ama Dablam Expedition

The Ama Dablam Expedition is normally undertaken from the southwest ridge. Many Himalayan mountaineers start their high altitude climbing experience on Ama Dablam (6812m). Mountaineers usually have to pitch 3 high camps on the mountain. To reach the first camp from base camp, climbers have to pass the toughest and most difficult part on the saddle ridges. Turning to the north, the climb is up through rocky zones. Ama Dablam is considered to be one of the most technical and challenging climbs, with difficult ice, rocks and steep snow on the route

Manaslu Expedition

The Manaslu Expedition has become one of the more popular but still arduous mountaineering destinations. Manaslu (also known as Kutang, meaning flat place!) is the eighth highest mountain in the world. The mountain can be approached from various sides but most attempt it from Samagaon along the Budhi Gandaki valley. The name was later changed to Manaslu, derived from the Sanskrit word Manasa, and can be translated as ‘Mountain of the Spirit’.

The first ascent of this peak was in 1956, by T. Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu on a Japanese expedition. The peak was not climbed again until 1971, when another Japanese team made the second ascent. In 1997 Charlie Mace made the first American ascent. There are half a dozen established routes on the mountain today, but the south face is arguably the toughest. Roughly one in five climbers have perished on this peak, making it the 4th most dangerous 8000m peak, behind Annapurna, Nanga Parbat and K2.

Makalu Expedition

The Makalu Expedition heads to the fifth highest peak in the world rising to 8463m (27,765 feet). This beautiful and impressive massif is situated just 14 miles east of Everest. The name of the mountain was probably taken from the Sanskrit word Maha-Kala, which means ‘big black’ and is a by-name of Shiva – one of the most important gods of Hinduism. Shiva is sometimes an evil, cruel destroyer, but at other times he is gentle and kind-hearted. The mountain has another name in the local dialect – Kumba karna – which means ‘the giant’.

Its size alone is impressive, but its perfect pyramid structure with four sharp ridges makes this mountain all the more spectacular. Makalu is actually a double peak. The subsidiary peak, rising just north of the main summit and connected by a saddle, is called Chomolonzo (25,650ft). Makalu has proved to be a challenging climb, as only five of its first sixteen attempts were successful. There have been no known winter ascents of this peak. Prior to its first ascent in 1955, it was admired and studied by several Everest expeditions, but like a lot of other giants in the Khumbu region, it was not attempted until after the summit of Everest had first been attained in 1953.

Baruntse Expedition

Mount Baruntse is at the height of 7,129m. in between the lap of Everest and Makalu mountain. This mountain was first ascended first by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow on 30 May 1954. They have climbed the mountain by the South -East Ridge. Since than many climbers have used this route and got succeeded. This mountain has also been becoming coveted day by day like the other Pumori, Ama Dablam as well as Everest too.

The south -East Ridge of Baruntse it is little bit difficult because of being straightforward hard ways to climb. There are hard sections of 50 Degree’s elevation with a prominent ice cliff to be climbed facing the risk of avalanche. The climbers have succeeded the mountain mostly in the spring season because of being the season the best to the climber safety. But also some climbers have reached on its top in the autumn season as well.

This is the most physically challenging non-technical program. It is more strenuous than Kilimanjaro, Raini-er, or Everest Base Camp (Nepal Side). Tibet ABC is arguably the highest point on earth that can be attained without mountaineering skills. You will spend over two weeks in excess of 14,000 feet.

It is important to be in good physical condition. Having said that, we should note that on the 2004 ABC trek we had three participants in their 50’s and two in their 60’s (one 68 year old) that all successfully made it to ABC! This trip is “do-able” if you are in good shape, enjoy hiking and traveling, and don’t have any underly-

ing health issues that might be worsened by the amount of time spent up high.

Trekking /Tours in BhutanThe Bhutanese themselves refers to their country as Druk Yul or “the Land of the Peaceful Dragon. Bhutan is hidden amidst the mighty Himalayas and sandwiched between two big countries China (Tibet) in the north and India in the south. It was in 747 AD that Padma Sambhava who is known as Guru Rimpoche and the founder of the Ngima-pa sect, the tantric strain of Mahayana Buddhism, made his legendry trip from Tibet across the mountains flying on a tigress’s back.

He arrived in the Paro valley at Takstang Lakhang (Tiger’s Nest). Nowadays, the majority of Bhutanese follow the Kagyu-pa sect of Buddhism. Trips in Bhutan include visits to old forts, palaces, monasteries, National Museums, sightseeing at Satsam Chorten, Taktsang Monastery, Memorial Chorten, National Library, a handicrafts emporium and Tashichho Dzong and more.

Trekking / Tour in Ladakh

Tours and Trekking in India in Ladakh and surround is highly renowned by the trekkers and hikers as its beauty and hidden culture.

Ladakh - a word which means “land of high passes” is a region in the state of Jammu and Kashmir of Northern India, sandwiched between the Karakoram mountain range to the north and the Himalayas to the south. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in India. Historically, the region included the Indus Valley, the remote Zanskar to the south, and Nubra valleys to the north over Khardung La in the Ladakh mountain range. Ladakh borders Tibet to the east, the Lahul and Spiti to the south, Kashmir to the west, and Central Asia to the north.

Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and Buddhist culture which was established there as early as the 2nd century. This has given rise to the appellation “Little Tibet”, as it has strongly been influenced by the culture of Tibet.
