Apit with Eype

Apit is the Professional association of tourist guides of Valencia. Four Official Tourist Guides of it, Elvira Mocholí,

Protection Morató, Nani Moro and Jose Vicente Niclós offered a promotional visit to a hundred of European young

people as a part of the European Parliament of the Youth who held a meeting in Valencia with a spectrum of

interests and urgent topics in their portfolios.

The visit began at the Plaza de la Virgen, close to the magnificent fountain of the river Turia, joining the festive eve

of san Vicent Ferrer holiday. The weddings could not be absent that sunny Saturday evening and the typical note

was played by the Mexican mariachis saluting our group.

We move next to the Apostles gate of the Dome, where we explain to our team the importance of a democratic use

of water for the agricultural prosperity of this land and the importance of the Arabic culture for the system of

irrigation of the fertile plain of Valencia (Huerta).

Later we observe three artistic styles that represent this land, the Gothic one of the cathedral, the

baroque of the Basilica of the Virgin and the modernist of the House of the Embroidery, while our

feet stood on the remains of the Roman foundation of Valentia.

Our steps take us now to the gate of the Arab Baths, although under the hands of the Christians

rulers, still remember until now the ambiance of a real Arab hammam as we as guides used in

cities such as Damasco and Estanbul, with its warm peeling and massage rooms, restoring our

youth of fifteen.

The church of san Juan of the Hospital with such a crowdy visit surprises even the knights of Malta. It is not so

strange since two consecutive weddings were celebrated. would any of this girls enter to the sacristy?

And its time to visit the Palace of the Marquis of Two Waters, symbol of the exaltation of XVIIIth

century rococo in the front alabaster facade like an altar, that remembers a beautiful jewel in the

breast of a beautiful valencian courtesan.

Finally we return for the Plaza Ayuntamiento (Town hall), where guides explain to the group the

importance of a noisy festival of firecrackers during the springtime festival of Las Fallas. We look

too at the splendid art represented now by the beautiful sculptures of feminine forms of the

English artist Henry Moore.

Eype’s ninth session in Valencia

The meetings took place in Valencia from April 24 to April 27 and were led by Jonathan Piepers, of Belgium. In

sessions met 150 young people proceeding from the whole Europe.

What is Eype

The European Youth Parliament España (EYPE) is the organization that represents Spain in the European

Parliament of the Youth. The association is formed by students who take part in the different meetings organized

by EYP in diverse countries during the year.

The meetings carried out in Spain have as a goal the selection of the representatives of the international meetings

that bring together approximately 300 students of all the countries. From its foundation Eype España has

celebrated seven national conferences of candidates for parliamentary european sessions. The topics of the

sessions achieved in the Palau de les Arts of Valencia focused on the following questions:

-The Committee of Labor Market is asking for Employment and Labor Flexibility.

- The Committee of Civil laws demanding a common Civil law and free European mobility

-The Committee of European Regions analyzing Independence Movements of Flanders, Scotland and Catalonia

-The Committee on energy protesting about price of energy and asking for a shared electric power (Smart grids).

- The Security and Defense Committee recommends to restart the common European security policy that began

in 2003

- The Committee on Constitutional affairs requires participation, transparency and correct functioning of the

institutions.

- The Committee on Culture and Education demands support for the technological careers, genre equality and a

stop of cut backs on education.

The representatives of the group in Spain were Pepe Bono, Isabel Cantalapiedra and Ignacio Sanchez.
