1. Wondering if the ancient Indian language is still in use?

Are you a Sanskrit scholar? Do you want to test your Sanskrit conversation skills? We can’t think of a better place for you to visit than Mathur. They communicate in Sanskrit in that region, we hear. So go ahead, it’s test time!

2. Game for some adventure?

Ever heard of the Indian Institute of Adventure Applications? No? Well, we neither! But if you head to Honnemardu, in Shimoga district of Karnataka, you’ll be able to visit it. Canoeing, kayaking, coracling and trekking – take your pick.

3. Time to rest in serenity

Mullayangiri, in the Baba Budan Giri range in Karanataka, is a name that most of you would know. The highest peak in Karnataka, it is also said to be the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris.

What isn’t so widely known though is this legend. When you visit the temple at the top of this peak, you also spot some caves. It’s said that walking into one of these caves and into the tunnel beyond, can actually take you all the way to Mysore. (Not having tried, we can’t assure you that this is true :D)

4. Have a sweet tooth?

People who’ve visited Karnataka probably have tasted Mysorepak. Not too many know the “kunda”. Originating in Belgaum district, this milk-based sweet is a favorite with many.

We like it so much; we’re going to share a recipe for those of you who might want to make it, or a list of places which sell the best kunda for those of you who just want to relish it.

5. The legend doesn’t need any introduction, but Jammy Cup does!

From food to cricket is not an unnatural transition in Karnataka. And while on the subject of cricket, we thought we’d tell you something about Rahul Dravid.

Now known to many as “the Wall”, one of his other popular nicknames is Jammy! There is a “Jammy Cup” that’s held in Bangalore, too.

6. For all you movie buffs…

Completing this series without talking about Sandalwood would be an offence. No, not the tree, the Karnataka film industry! And when you think of Sandalwood, you automatically think of Dr. Rajkumar.

Did you know that Annavaru, as he is fondly called, is said to be the only actor who acted in only one language for a period of 50 years?
