GEOGRAPHY

Ostrów Wielkopolski is located in the southern part of the Greater Poland province.

It is a town of a bit more than 74 thousand people.

BRIEF HISTORICAL FACTS

Ostrów received town privileges in 1404. It has recently celebrated its 600th birthday.A railroad hub was formed in Ostrów around

1875 and became a vital point of the town’s development.

One of the town’s historic episodes was the so called Republic of Ostrów, which was the citizens’ upheaval of 1918.

BRIEF HISTORICAL FACTS

In between the First and Second WW, Ostrów was one of the fastest growing towns: the number of inhabitants doubled, showy houses were built and modern Railcar Manufacturing began.

During World war II, a Nazi labor camp operated within the town's limits.

Contemporary Ostrów is a peaceful town with friendly inhabitants and cultural atmosphere.

It is also a place where many businesses are done; new roads are built and new shopping centers spring up.
