FOUR ELEMENTS OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
1. EMERGENCY PREVENTION2. EMERGENGY PREPAREDNESS3. EMERGENCY RESPONSE4. EMERGENCY RECOVERY
Rationale of the ActivityEMERGENCY PREPARENESS & RESPONSE -•If accident happen, who is at a loss?•If no accident happen, who can benefit?•Without accident, what are the benefits?
OBJECTIVESAt the end of the session, the participants should be able:
• To understand the importance of Emergency
Preparedness Program
• To identify hazards (man-made emergencies) that
causes accidents in workplace
• To know how to use the available fire protection at
workplace
• To determine the structure of who will do and what to do
during emergency situations
• To assess company safety performance through
understanding and formulation of Loss Prevention
Program
Prompt effective emergency prevention and preparedness reduces accidental loss and the life threatening situation that will bring great damage or disaster.
1.Reduce accidental losses due to natural and man-made disasters.
2.Define who is in-charge
3.Define who will do what.
4.Avoid panic and confusion.
IMPORTANCE / BENEFITS OF THE EMERGENGY PREPAREDNESS PLAN
Emergency
A potentially life threatening situation usually occurring suddenly and unexpectedly.
A sudden, calamitous event bringing great damage, loss or destruction and great misfortune, often arriving without forewarning.
Disaster
Types of Emergencies
A. Natural emergencies
B. Man- made emergencies
(hazards in workplace)

B. Man- made emergenciesSome events caused by man’s negligence in handling his
property and technology in the workplace:
1. Poor Housekeeping2. Poor Storage Discipline3. Lacking and/or Obstructed Fire Protection Equipment4. Lacking and/or Obstructed Aisles & Emergency Exits5. Improper Storage of Flammable Liquids6. Poor Electrical Installations7. No Smoking Violation8. Lift/Escalator Improper Maintenance & Use9. Labor Unrest

Group Workshops
1. This is a contest, winner has a reward2. Form a group, but only one group can win3. Listen to instruction and proceed after “go”4. Identify, spot and count the number of

5. The highest the number, the bigger chance of winning
Group Workshops
RESULTS:1.Group’s reporting and assessment2.Photos taken from actual survey and inspection3.Can the situation be corrected?4.What are the remedies to be undertaken?

TYPES OF FUEL
SOLID - paper, wood, plastic
LIQUID - gasoline, alcohol, thinner
GAS - methane, natural gas
Combustible Metals
CLASSES OF FIRE
Depends on the type offuel burning…..
Each class of fire requires its own type of
fire extinguisher.
CLASSES OF FIRE
Class “A” Fire
Class “B” Fire
Class “C” Fire
Class “D” Fire
Aimat fire
Using portable fire extinguishers
