The number of people using some form of social media, no matter how frequently, is ever-increasing, both because the internet has become more portable (smartphones, tablets, other PDAs) but also because there seem to be newer and glitzier social networking sites(SNS) introduced on a regular basis.

For those involved in an active job search, the use of

SNS has become part and parcel of their efforts.  If you don’t have a comprehensive

social media strategy as part of your job search program,

you are at a distinct disadvantage compared to

those who do.

When we say “comprehensive strategy’, we mean a coordinated effort to utilize the SNS you are most comfortable using and which you feel best provide the most accurate representation to recruiters and potential employers of who you are and what you bring to the table.

If you’re not very tech savvy, using YouTube may not be right for you, for example.  If you enjoy sharing your thoughts and, more importantly for job search purposes, your knowledge, Twitter might be a format you want to use.

And now comes Qwiki.  If you have the ability and time to create interactive,

multimedia presentations of information about you, your expertise

or even examples of your work product, then Qwiki may be an ideal

job search aid for you.

Likened to Wikipedia because it provides a way to provide information

that is complete and easily reviewable, Qwiki offers you the mechanism to present information about you that

includes video and images.

Qwiki addresses the growing need to combine text content with multimedia in order to better build your brand, to make it more interesting to the recruiter or potential employer.

Consider the impact of presenting your accomplishments, expertise, opinions, abilities, your resume itself in manner that engages the viewer visually.

Optimizing your online presence  is critical to any job search strategy, especially in today’s economic environment.   Unemployment currently remains above 8 percent and thousands upon thousands of very qualified individuals remain without a job or in jobs for which they are overqualified.

The use of an engaging and visually arresting job search tool such as Qwiki

can help separate you from the masses.

Remember, a job hunter without an effective

online presence is like a shark that stops

swimming:  You soon sink lifelessly to the bottom of

the talent pool.
