Last year, Celina snapped anine-yearlosingstreaktoOtta-wa-Glandorf in Western Buck-eyeLeaguefootballaction. Now,theBulldogslooktocon-tinue a winning streak againstthe Titans and maintain theirundefeated record when theytraveltoPutnamCountyonFri-daynightforWeekTwoofWBLplay. Celina has outscored itsopponents 60-3 in the first twoweeks of the season, postinga 34-0 shutout against Bath inthe league lidlifter last FridayatCelinaStadium.TheBulldogdefense has held team to just115yardspassingand182yardsrushing and has forced threeturnovers. Yet, Celina coach TrentTemplethinkshis teamcandobetter. “Wehavesomementalerrorswe have to get fixed,” Templesaid. “Every game you’ll havethem(but)we’vehadmorethanwewouldlike.Thatcouldhaveled to some points (by Bath),but we were able to get somepressure on the quarterbackand able to overcome that. Aswe continue to go (though theseason), teams are going to getbetter offensively. They’ll see(Celina’s mistakes) on film andwill try to capitalize on them.Weneedtodoabetterjob....Wecanplaybetteronbothsidesoftheball.” The defense will be chal-lengedthisweekbytheTitans,whohavebeenmoreofathrow-ing team this season thanlast year. In 2013, O-G threwfor 1,392 yards with 11 touch-downs and 10 interceptions. Inthefirsttwogamesthisseason,the Titans have thrown for 483yards with eight touchdownsandaninterception. QuarterbackZacUnterbrinkhad a great outing in leadingO-GtoacomebackwinoverVanWertlastweekend.Hethrewfor207yardsandfourtouchdownsintheTitans’46-14winovertheCougarsatTitanStadium.ZachKuhlman has been the maingo-to receiver in recording 14receptions for 198 yards andfour touchdowns so far on theseason.

“They’re a shotgun, one-backteam,”Templesaid.“VerysimilartoDelphosSt.John’sinourscrimmage.VerysimilartoBath. (Unterbrink) throws it abitunorthodox,butveryeffec-tive. They’re going to try andthrowtheball.” TheTitanswillstillruntheball. Logan McDermott hasrushed for 143 yards and twotouchdowns this season whileUnterbrinkhasadded86yards. “They’veaveraged30pointsper game and had (46 againstVanWert).We’regoingtohaveour hands full defensively try-ingtostoptheirpassingattackandrunningattackaswell.” Defensively,theTitanshaveallowed 200-plus yards rush-ingineachoftheirtwogames,including 205 yards againstVanWert.ThatcouldbeaplusforCelina,whichhad268yardsin the win over Bath. GarettWinget rushed for a career-high 151 yards and one touch-downagainsttheWildcats.

“If we can’t run the ball,we’re going to be in trouble,”Temple said. “If we can’t run,they’re going to bring a lot ofpressure on our quarterback(Caleb Hoyng, who is 20-of-33for310yardsanda touchdownthis season). We knew goinginto this season that we needto run the ball. Garret did anicejob,buttheoffensivelineworked hard to improve andgetbetter.” “They’re going to comeready to play,” Temple contin-ued. “They’re just like every-body else that’s undefeatedthis week. They’re going for aleague championship just likeourgoal is thesamething. It’sgoingtobeagreatballgame.” Defensively, Celina has hadstrong showing from defensiveback Zach Marks (17 tackles, 41 ⁄2sacks)andlinebackerFrankTownsend (25 tackles). TheBulldogs are a plus two in theturnover ratio (one giveaway,threetakeaways).

CELINA — Some peoplemay know him as the Germanexchangestudent. Others know him as the newstarting place-kicker for theCelina football team or by hisgrowing and fitting nickname“DasBoot.” Max Siemon, a juniorexchangestudentwhohailsfromCologne, Germany, has come along way and kicks the footballfar.He’saspecialteamsweaponthatCelinacoachTrentTempleand the rest of the team havewelcomedwithopenarms. “We get into two-a-days andhe’s a few days late into two-a-days,sowehadtogethimaccli-mated and everything. Thenwe get him up there and it waspretty obvious that he can kickthefootball,”Templeexplained.“Obviously, that’s a dangerousweapon when you’ve got a kidthatcanputtheball intheendzoneandmaketheotheroffensego 80 yards instead of 60 or 40or even sometimes 50. That’s aweaponandit’sbeenablessingforus.”

Siemon,whostayswithDavidand Andrea Green, has been agame changer for the Bulldogsthis season, pinning opponentsdeep into their own territorywith each booming kickoff. Hisleg has helped set up the Bull-dog defense for success. In twowinsthisseason,thedefensehasgivenupjustthreepoints.Someof thatcanbeaccreditedtotheaverage starting field positionafterkickoff. “It very rarely happens thatyou’llfindateamthatwillgoonan 80-yard drive or an 85-yarddrive, whatever that may be, itvery rarely happens,” Templeexplained. “The stat guys willtell you if that’s cut in half, ifthey get the ball at the 40, it’s50percentlessfromthe20thattheywilldrivethatandscore.Soit’shuge.” Siemon said he played soc-cer for 10 years while overseas.Siemon added he wanted to trysomethingnew,sohedecidedtoput his skills to use at football,instead of “Fussball,” the Ger-manwordforsoccer. “It’s awesome, because there
