Basin 13 Trunk Sewer Improvements

About the Project

The Basin 13 project involved sanitary sewer

design, roadway design, traffic control and

phasing, water main design, coordination of

private utilities, sewer construction and rock

excavation. The project provides approximately

3,460 additional acres of serviceable property

that translates to additional residential housing,

business opportunities, job opportunities and

Lennox Water System Improvements

About the Project

The Lennox Water System Improvements

project involved many aspects of civil

engineering. At a cost of $4,382,000, the

project is significant for the state of South

Dakota. There was a great deal of challenging

hydraulic and pumping design work for the

project. The City of Lennox now has a water

system with a capacity to meet the future

needs of the city.

Lead-Deadwood Area Water Study

About the Project

This study analyzed a unique gravity-fed water

collection and distribution system. Drought

conditions raised concerns about the water

supply. This study quantified the amount of

water available to the area, maintenance of

the system, and lays the foundation for a

sustainable water policy for the Northern

Black Hills Region.

West Plains Engineering, Inc.South Dakota Army National Guard

Mobridge Readiness Center

Uniqueness of the Project

West Plains Engineering, Inc. in conjunction

with TSP Three, Inc., designed a new

armory for the National Guard in

Mobridge, SD. The Team created a new

facility that was easy to operate, thermally

efficient, environmentally friendly and met

the sustainable design requirements

mandated by the National Guard Bureau.

Lewis and Clark Bank Stabilitzation

About the Project

Bank stabilization is not new. Protecting river

banks and shorelines from the erosional

effects of moving water has been done for

thousands of years. This project was unique

in the way that it was integrated into the

existing unnatural landscape while also

providing for its intended function.
