Mr. Ernst has been in the drayagebusiness for more than twenty yearsand became one of the largest han-dlers of coffee at this port. lie was anative of New Orleans and for manyyears conducted a large dairy inAlgiers.

In 1SS4 he married Miss Louisa.louandot, who, with his daughter.Miss Olivia, two sons. John .1. andFrank, and two brothers. W. M. andCharles Ernst. survive him. M1r. Ernstwas a member of (;ermania Lodge ofMasons, Halcyon Lodge, Knights ofPythias. and the Young Men's Socialand Benevolent Association. Thefuneral took place at 3 p. m. thisSunday. The services were conductedby Germania Lodge.
