The rebirth of the Prision Chappel in Balassagyarmat is well on its way. Resurection,theonceclosedoffspacedeepwithinthestructureofthisPrisionhasbeenreopendandisnowgettingitsnewface.

ThePrisionhasbeenbuiltbetweentheyear1842till45,acordingtothepanopticdesignofJeremyBentham,Thechapel,lyingrightattheheartofthebuildingwastakenoutofit’sfunctionin1949underanactthatseperatedthechurchformthestate.Thedomehadbeensealedoffandtheremainingspacewasusedasalockingroom,storagespaceandfinallyasalibrary.

Thewallshavebeenworkedbacktothebricksandnowthenewlayersareplaced.Readytorecivethebrandnewfresco.Bothciviliansanditsownprisionersareworkingpassionatlytomakeithappen.Togivethechappelanewexistence.
