B787 Update

Air New Zealand Fleet PBN Progress• Working with Airways to implement local RNP AR

approach solutions. Focus on ‘BNE style’ solutions.• This will provide access for all appropriately equipped

fleets• Ensure sufficient approaches are available for training.• A commencement point as close as possible on the

current STARs (e.g. LOGSA, POKOM)– Allow late clearance capability to improve flexibility for controllers

and crew

Time to Focus on ATM and the Environment

• Airports other than ‘terrain challenged’

• Significant gain in track miles will benefit all traffic, not only the RNP AR capable a/c

• Caution! In the ‘noise versus environment’ contest, noise (almost) always wins!

Avionics are not built unless there is a known market!

A time of change

Benefits are available now

Summary• Air New Zealand is;

– fully committed to PBN implementation– making a substantial investment in equipment

and training– managing a significant change process within

the airline– working with industry stakeholders to ensure

a timely rollout of PBN capability

• Compliant with CAANZ Phase 1 PBN plan
