Cloud Computing

What is Cloud Computing?

You just might ask “What the heck is Cloud Computing?!”

• It’s just a term/(or say “just another tech-jargon” if you like!) used to describe services that are not on your average PC.

• So anytime you play a simple(say addictive) flash game on the Net then

that is Cloud Computing, my friend!

TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING? –

Name Stands for Uses

Saas Software As a Service/ Software on Demand

For End Users

Paas Platform As a Service For Application Developers

Iaas Infrastructure As a Service For Network Architects

Why the Name?

• According to Wikipedia, the key characteristic of Cloud Computing is that the computing is in “the cloud” i.e. the processing (& the related data) is not in a specified or known state/place.

HOW DOES THEY WORK?

Basically Cloud Computing is Internet based computing whereby shared servers provide the resources, software and data to computers and other devices on demand.

Implications

• The increasing coverage of cloud computing as the new model for IT owes much to the rapid investment for some of the world’s most recognizable companies. Google, Amazon and Microsoft have all been investing millions into their own cloud service ventures. As the late Steve Jobs rightly put it ”Cloud computing is the future!”
