In Fairfield AccordingtotheU.S.Bu-reauofLaborStatistics,onlyaboutathirdofU.S. jobsrequireanypost-secondaryeducation and less than aquarterofU.S.jobsrequireabachelorsdegreeormore.Still,wellovertwo-thirdsofhighschoolgraduatescon-tinue to enroll in college.Thishasleftournationwith100’softhousandsofcollegegraduateswhocannotfinda job(andwithnowaytopayofftheirstudentloans).Meanwhile, many indus-triesarestrugglingtofindskilledworkerstofill100’softhousandsjobopeningsacrossthenation. Inanefforttohelpsolvethis problem, the City ofFairfield and the CamasCounty School District,alongwithseverallocalbusi-nesses,havejoinedtogethertocreateaMakerspaceLabandtrainingfacilityinFair-field,Idaho. On February 1st, 2016,thegroupreceiveda$25,000micro-grant from IdahoWorkforceDevelopment.Aspartofthegrantagree-ment,eachmemberofthegroupwillprovidein-kind

Thanks to the GoodingVolunteerGroup(GVG),theLionsParkacross thestreet from North ValleyAcademy has new play-ground equipment. NowGVG is ready for a newprojectatGooding’sEastPark. With some pieces ofequipmentabout30yearsold, the playground atGooding’sEastPark(nexttoswimmingpoolonIlli-noisStreet)hasbeenwear-ingdown.Theequipmentis in need of replacementand the Gooding Volun-teer Group, along with acoregroupofindividuals,hasteameduptomakethisdreamareality. ShewasborntoWilliamAlfonzoGoldandEuniceEveleneAndersonGoldonMay22,1928inWendell.Shewasanunexpectedsurprise,arriving1hourand20minutesafterhertwinsisterLaRae.LaterabrotherIvan,andanothersister,Idellajoinedthefamily. Shewasalife-longresidentofWendell,at-tendingschoolsthereandgraduatingfromWendellHighSchool.Thisiswhereshemetand started dating her sweetheart WalterStockhamJr.Someoftheirfavoritedatingactivitieswere,enjoyingmilkshakesatthecafé,anoccasional10centmovieordanceattheoldchurch.WhiletheywereinhighschoolWalterwasdraftedintotheArmyduringWWII.Thisstartedanexchangeoftenderloveletters,andtheyweremarried10daysafterhisreturnonDecember8,1946.TheywerelatersealedintheIdahoFallsTemple. LaRueandWalterworkedsidebysideontheirfamilyfarmforover60years.Theywereblessedwithsevendaughtersduringthistimewhoalsoworkedonthefarm. LaRuewasafaithfulmemberoftheLDSchurchandservedmanycallingsincludingreliefsocietyandprimarypresident.Sheespecially lovedbeingadedicatedvisit-ingteacherandwasWalter’sbiggestsupporter inhismanyBoyScoutactivities.LaRuetrulylovedservingothers. LaRuewasfamousforherhotrolls,cinnamonrolls,donuts,bread,piesandmore.Shelovedsharingthesewithothersinneed.Growingflowersandworkinginthegardenwerefavoriteactivities.Shelovedbeingawife,

mother,grandmother,andtwinsistertoLaRae.Shewashappiestwhenherhomewasfilledwiththosesheloved.

Yeah,thehuckleberryisthenewstatefruit.ItisfunnythatthefruitwasadoptedonFebruary13,2000.SoclosetoValentine’sDay...I’mwonderingifitwasn’taheavysnowfallyearandtherun-to-the-storeforchocolatewasinconvenient.Don’tgetmewrong,huckleberryicecreamisgreatatValentine’sDay,butwhyshouldwebeselfishandeatitonlyononeday. HealthCareissueswerepartofthediscussionateverystop.GovernorOttersPCAPplantopayHealthClinics$32perperson(aprox.$30million)forthe78,000individualscaughtintheinsurancegapwasdiscussed.Mostwereconcernedthatthecoveragewasonlyforamedicalhomewhichofferedprimarycarevisitsandnotmoreextensivecaresuchasmostprescrip-tions,x-rays,surgeries,orotherextendedcareservices.ThelatterwouldstillbeexpenseslikelytobepaidundertheCATfund.ManyattendingsupportedMedicaidexpansionespeciallythecountyofficialswhohavetoadministertheindigentfundstothosecitizenswithoutinsurancepresently.WealsodiscussedtheHealthyIdahoPlanthatwassuggestedbytheHealthcareTaskForcememberslastyear.Itallowsthoseatpovertylevelandslightlyabovetobeeligibleforslidingscaleinsurancepoliciespurchasedontheopeninsurancemarketwithanincreasingpro-portionofthepremiumastheyearnedmoremoney.ThoseunderpovertylevelwouldqualifyforacaremanagementprogramwhereMedicaidassignedproviderswouldgivethecare.Theseindividualswouldhavesomeco-pays,butproviderswouldgetpaidbysuccessfultreatmentratherthannumberofvisits.Mostagreedsomethingneedstobedoneandrightaway.Education,water(recharge),Taxcuts,localcontrolissuesandimmigration,werealsotopicsofdiscussionateachstop. AnotherHealthrelatedbillwastermedthe“RighttoTryBill”whichwouldallowindividualssufferingfromterminaldiseasestouseexperimentaldrugsorproceduresiftheysodesired.Thedrugswouldhavetobedeemedsafe,andpatientswouldhavetotakeallresponsibilityfortheresults.23otherstateshavethisinstatute.Thebillwasprintedandahearingwillbeneededbeforeitgoesforward.
