What are the purposes of the function keys (F1, F2, etc.) on the keyboard?

BIOS: Sometimes, F keys will perform BIOS actions such as:Setup; Boot Menu; and, Recover.F1 will often bring up the HELP menu for the program you’re working in or for the OS itself.

WORD: F2-Move Text; F10-Menu Mode; F12-Save As.

EXCEL: F4-Repeats the last command, if possible; F5-displays the Go To box.

PowerPoint: F4-Open the Look In list; F5-Refresh the file list.

INTERNET EXPLORER: F5-Refresh the current webpage; F11-Toggle between full screen and regular view mode.Outlook: F4-Open the Find window; F7-Spell check; F12-Save As.

When would you use your Numlock key? How do you locate your Numlock key if necessary?

When there’s a full keyboard accompanied by an Accountant’s Number Pad, the NumLock key turns the numbers on and off.

When on a small keyboard, where no separate Accountant’s Number Pad is present, the NumLock (Sometimes, NumLck) key turns on and off the special keyboard slightly to the right of center.

How do I backup all files in OneNote so I can install them on another computer?

Although Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 automatically creates backup copies of your notes, you can also back them up manually when necessary. Follow the steps below whenever you want to create an immediate backup of all of your OneNote notebooks.

On the Tools menu, click Options.

In the Options dialog box, in the Category list, click Backup.

Under Backup, click Back Up All Notebooks Now.

Where does OneNote save the backups?

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\14.0\Backup

How do you restore a backup?

Click on the FILE menu and on the right side, click on Open Backups.Find the backup you want and restore it.

I have been using the SAME email address for years when I shared it with my wife. I would now like to use a NEW email address. Is there any easy way to automate notifying members of my contact list about a change of my email address?

You could use a special program like “TrueSwitch” which will back up your contacts and other personal data from your old email and transfer it to your new. You can also use TrueSwitch to send out notification emails.

You could send an email from your OLD account, using the BCC: feature, to everyone in your address book with whom you want to share your new address. In the email, simply share your new address and ask them to change their address book.

Remember: if you get email from companies, you probably need to change your address manually using their procedures. Sending them an email using BCC: with your other contacts probably won’t work.

How do I upload pictures from camera?

If you mean: how do I transfer pictures from my camera to my computer:

The Microsoft Answer – It depends!

You can transfer pictures from some cameras by using a USB cord – usually a micro cord – that connects from the camera to the computer.

If your camera has a memory card and your computer has a memory card reader, you can put the card in the computer and transfer the pictures that way.

Why does my online banking site sometimes allow me to copy/paste my password and other times I have to manually type it in? It ALWAYS allows me to copy/paste my user name. Bank tech support could NOT answer the question.

In truth, you should NEVER be able to paste your password into the log-in field.As to why you are able to copy and paste your password sometimes, that is one of those mysteries that exist in the virtual world, the answer may elude us for a lifetime.

How much of a difference in speed should I notice on MY wi-fi network if I go to an N router?

It depends on a number of factors: your Internet speed when attached with an Ethernet cable, for one.

Still, in going from a G router to an N, there should be a noticeable improvement in your wireless speed.

This annoying message appears only with Outlook Express, which no longer exists except in older computers, Windows XP and earlier.

If you’re getting this message, click OK. If the message continues to show up, come into Remote and we’ll make a registry change which will reset the counter and give you a break (at least for a little while!)
