What is a campaign?

A capital campaign is an organized effort to raise private support within a specific time period for identified priorities of strategic importance.

Why do a campaign?

• Campaigns authenticate the sense of urgency.

• They provide a platform.• They galvanize, motivate and inspire

the campus community.• Build a culture of philanthropy – both

internally and externally.

What makes a campaign successful?

• Raising the stated goal.• Successfully matching donor and

university’s needs.• Transforming people and programs.• Making a broad impact on our

university and our statewide engagement.

What are the prioritiesof the campaign?

• Providing financial resources for students

• Need and merit-based scholarships – part of our land-grant mission

• Graduate student support and fellowships

• Endowed scholarships are a priority as they provide ongoing funds

• Outstanding teachers and researchers are in high demand worldwide.

• Endowed faculty funds are a priority.• We are behind our peers in number of

endowed positions.• These are essential tools in

attracting/retaining faculty.• These funds are really about the student

experience whether that be in the classroom, the lab or the community.

• A great university is a reflection of its faculty.

• First-class laboratory and classroom space is necessary to enable the hands-on research opportunities of our students and support the work of our researchers.
