In This Life Promises Are Broken• Often by those whose integrity is

questionable.• Also by well-meaning, faithful Christians.

cp. 1 Cor. 4:19, 16:5-9; 2 Cor. 1:15ff• Regardless, we feel let down.

Such is Not the Case With God• God’s promises have never, and will never

fail. • Thus, His faithfulness – as seen through

His promises – should be reflected, to the best of our ability, in our walk with Him.

“The Bible is so full of God’s promises, that it is not really possible to count them.

Some people have tried and come up with about 3000. Others have counted 7000.

Herbert Lockyer wrote a book called All the promises of the Bible

and claims to list 8000.”

God’s Promises Affect Our Walk With Him

Walking With Full Assurance• God always performed His promises. Rom. 4:21• It allowed believers to willingly leave riches and

comfort to walk on the promises of God. Cp. Heb. 11:24-27

• They serve as an example for our walk today.

Walking With ‘Comfort’• God will deliver us from this darkened world.

1 Thess. 4:13-14• When so many people (including ourselves)

let us down, we’re comforted convicted that God doesn’t.

• Comforted through the most difficult of trials. Jas. 1:2-5

His Character – Our Example• We should want emulate His faithfulness.

Matt. 5:48• These promises should stir within us a desire

to be cleansed from unrighteousness. 2 Cor. 7:1

• We look forward to that eternal rest. Heb. 11:9-10

Conclusion• While we (mankind) may not always keep our

promises: our Faithful God is always true to His word.

• His great and precious promises should move us to be like Him, faithful and true…to His glory.
