INFUSION OF TECHNOLOGY IN BLOOMS

Technology and HOTS

Students Need New Skills!

“…having the equivalent of the Encyclopedia Britannica in one’s head is no longer a defining feature of an intelligent person. Instead, people need skills in problem finding and problem solving, information, synthesis, knowledge collaboration, originality, and critical analysis.” -Dr. Curtis J. Bonk The World is Open

Does the tool move a project from LOTS to

HOTS?

Infusing Technology

Never teach to the technology!   Find technology that supports your

learning objectives.   Lessons are made better by

technology, but they can be good on their own!

How can you take an

activity or lesson and

move it from LOTS to HOTS?

“Clickers” or other technology can be used for testing.

Interactive whiteboards are great for review!

INFUSION OF TECHNOLOGY PERIOD!

Technology in the Classroom

Things to Consider

1.  Technology will not enhance “bad” teaching or “bad” lessons.

2.  Not all students “get” technology. 3.  Maintain consistency.

1.  Start with one thing. 2.  Then add-on or grow.

4.  Ensure all technology has a purpose and is directly tied to the learning objective.

5.  Don’t be SCARED!
