Ceramics

A hollow container for holding something. Can also be “pottery”

Vessel

To knead clay before used to remove air pockets.

Wedge

Vessel created with basic pinching technique. Walls of vessel should be thin and smooth

Pinch Pot

Longer ropes of clay to make pottery.

Coil Construction

A form built up cut shapes from sheets of damp clay.

Slab Construction

A form which is used to support wet clay in the early stages of construction.

Slump Mold

To make scratches or creases in pieces of clay to be joined together.

Score

Liquid made by mixing clay with water used like glue.

Leather Hard

• Clay has dried a little but is still workable. Perfect for carving & attaching pieces.

– How paint/color/pattern can help create a ‘set’
