• Historically ownership split:

– City owns and maintains the deck

– Railroad owns and maintains the substructure

• Other Similar Owned Bridges in City:

– Kings Road Bridge

Bridge Closure

• NYSDOT issued a letter to the Railroad regarding the bridges condition.

• Railroad makes “repairs”, April 2014

• Bridge closed to traffic April 2013 due to deterioration of steel.

Funding Strategies

• Project listed on Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) list for replacement POST 2018

• TIP Amendment submitted to the local Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to bring project into current TIP.

– Scope Change to Preservation

– Estimate reduced ($4.1M to $2.05)

– Timeline changed to 2014 Design, 2015Construction
