SD3 Soldier Menu

This Tutorial will cover the Solider Menu in SD3.

The Soldier Menu is the heart of SD3. The Soldier Menu is where most of the information about

a Soldier will be input. The great part about using the Ribbon as a menu system is that you can

easily navigate from one Soldier to another, with the same form open (APFT, for example), or

you can move from one menu option to another all for the same Soldier (go from APFT to

Weapons Qualification, to Leave Form, for example).

The Soldier Menu currently has 5 menus under it: Soldier Data, where most of the Soldier information is input and maintained New Soldier, the InProcessing Wizard (covered in a separate Tutorial) Assign / Depart, to change a Soldier’s assignment, or depart them (covered in a separate Tutorial) Admin Action, for Administrative Actions (covered in a separate Tutorial) Daily Status (Covered in a separate Tutorial)

All of the sub-menu options can be used in the Custom Menu option (covered in a separate

Tutorial), making them easy to access.

First, we’ll cover the Soldier Data menu.

The Soldier Data menu has 5 additional sub-menus: Soldier Admin Data Soldier Personal Data Soldier Training Data Soldier Custom Data Soldier Attachments

We’ll cover each of these menus. First is Soldier Admin Data.

Soldier Admin Data has most of the Administrative areas for a Soldier. Some of the menu

options are actually on the same form. For example, Basic Admin Data and Assignment Data are

actually on the same form. The order of the menu options does not necessarily indicate that

the menu options would appear on the same form. For example, Levy / DEROS is on the same

form as Deployment History.

This is the Basic Admin Data and Assignment Data form. If the Soldier had a photo entered

(through the Attachments form, which is covered later), it would appear on this form. Most of

the information here is self-explanatory.

When clicking in a “Date” field, a popup calendar button will appear to the right of the field.

Click the button to open a calendar. Manual entry of dates is also accepted.

Duty Position data is entered from the Unit Setup menu.

Photo would

appear here

This is the Deployment History and Levy / DEROS Data form. Add Deployments as necessary.

If the Soldier is on LEVY / DEROS, enter the date here. This will trigger a reminder for Awards.

Promotion Data and Evaluation Data. Most of the Promotion information is automatically

calculated. Eligible dates are calculated for promotion with or without a waiver for Enlisted

grades below SFC / E-7.

If a Rater is not in SD3, double click on the Rater dropdown to open a new form that will allow

entry of the necessary information.

This will allow entry of information for Rater that is not in the unit.

Counseling data. Use the Add / Edit Menu (Separate Tutorial) to add Counseling Templates.

Even if a template is used, the text may be changed, it’s free text. Click the DA 4856 button to

print the DA Form 4856.

Awards Data. Tracking options are added from the Admin Actions Menu. Awards will be added

to the Summary upon entry of the Date Presented.

If the Soldier is on LEVY / DEROS, or has an ETS approaching, an alert would appear here to

indicate when an Award would be due. The due date would be based upon the “required

submission” time frame established for the Award in the Award Name section of the Add/Edit

Menu.

Uniform Data. Body Armor and Mask Types are entered from the Add / Edit Menu.

Next is Soldier Personal Data.

Soldier Personal Data is for data that is not necessarily Admin, and not Training. Social

information, Leave information, Medical, and SRP are some of the items that are entered from

the Soldier Personal Data menu.

This is the Basic Personal Data. Security Clearance information is also here. Employment

information is mainly for Reserve/National Guard, but can also be used for off duty

employment.

Local Contact and Emergency Contact. If the NOK relationship is not the Spouse, enter it here.

Family Data. If the Spouse address is different from the Soldier, click “Different”. Add Children

and other Family Members here.

Leave Form. Schools can also be tracked. Select a Leave, and click Leave Form for a DA Form 31.

Medical and SRP. Most of the SRP is the date it was reviewed.

Immunizations and Maternity. Maternity will only be enabled for Female Soldiers.

POV and Insurance. Select the Insurance Policy and Save the POV to tie the two together.

Next is Soldier Training Data.

Most Training items are covered in this menu.

APFT and Profile. If a Weigh-in is associated with the APFT, select it to associate with the APFT

for the APFT Card. APFT Min/Max will show the Soldier Min/Max for the APFT. Click APFT Card

to print the DA Form 705.

Height / Weight / Body Fat. The Body Fat portion only appears if the Soldier does not pass

screening table. After entering the measurements, click Save prior to opening the Worksheet.

Remarks will show on the DA Form 5500 / 5501. Under the Preferences Menu, there is an

option to use default Remarks, in addition to the Remarks entered here.

Soldier Custom and Common Training. Custom Training Events are entered from Add / Edit

Menu.

Schools and Education Data. School Names are entered from the Add / Edit Menu.

MOS Tasks. MOS Tasks are entered from the Add / Edit Menu. Could also be used for other task

type tracking, not limited to MOS Tasks.

Warrior Tasks Wizard. As noted, the Wizard must get to the Finish page to save.

Sample page of the Warrior Tasks Wizard. Click the Result button – either Go or NoGo to

automatically enter today’s date.

Next is Soldier Custom Data.

Custom Data allows entry of Unit specific items that don’t fall into any category already pre-

defined in SD3. Custom Data types are added from the Customize Menu, Add / Edit.

Next is Soldier Attachments.

Soldier Attachments lets you upload attachments that may be relevant for the Soldier, such as a

photo, copies of NCOERs, Awards, Weapons Qualification Cards, etc. Follow the instructions on

the form to upload attachments.

That’s the Soldier Menu in SD3.
